Has anyone had experience adapting a 'Dakota Digital" brand electronic cruise control to a ST1300 ? Seems like it would be less of a hassle than the vacuum powered Audiovox / Rostra units where you would have to maybe deal with vacuum leaks and screw up the engine's performance and / or damage it.

The Dakota Digital apparently does not use a vacuum servo , is all-electric and you can get a "magnetic sender , CRS-3000-4165 kit " with magnets you mount. The 4 button and a LED dashboard switch of the Dakota Digital looks identical to other brands which are vacuum servos . The switch must be a generic item they all can use or something. I read the previous link above , but I didn't see if anybody was successful in adapting the Dakota Digital to a ST1300 or not / & how well it worked ? If it did work well , where were the magnets and speed sensor mounted ?

Tour - I had a Rostra unit (all-electric, no vacuum) on my '05 ST with a Goldwing right-hand switch, worked great! It uses the bikes VSS wire, so no magnets to mount. The PDF guide and discussion in this thread form a comprehensive set of instructions for the installation.

Has anyone installed a Dakota Digital unit ? I wanted to keep my ST1300 as stock as possible without altering it's electronics for a cruise control, possibly blowing it's reliability. I don't mind installing magnets if it keeps the general integrity of the bike intact.

Post 2 suggests the rostra and dakato are the same unit.
There a numerous threads on cruise including the st1100 which would use the magent instead of picking off the vss signal and running thru a puslse divider. It also mentions you can pick off the vss on the diag connector for 09 and up interesting...

It appears by doing some Google work that Dakota Digital sells the Rostra unit but they may be 'rebranding' it. Rostra makes most of the automotive cruise controls in the US, and they have been installed on ST1100s. The big trick is working out the throttle connection on the ST1100 which does not seem to be as big a problem for the ST1300. Good luck!
