Did you ever go in a power sport dealer to buy a $.99 crush washer and end up buying a bike?

Nope, I heat the copper ones to cherry red and quench in water...soft like new again and reusable!

What, You're not supposed to reuse crush washers?

And to think, after all these miles on ST1300s and I've replaced very few of them!

I’ve been in sort of a funk, losing my sister in May and my stepson last month. That, along with the drought and heat wave, I just haven’t had the urge to ride. Truthfully, I swear, I went in to buy a crush washer because the ATV I bought, didn’t have one and was leaking oil. When I walked by the sales desk, I told them that I was putting on blinders, cause I don’t need another bike, and wasn’t going to look. Well, bought the washers, but took off the blinders to look at my purchase and was blinded by the sparkle of chrome. It’s an ‘08, with only 7000 miles. Owned by an elderly gentleman who just didn’t ride much. Clean, with new tires. They were asking $5999, and I thought I’d insult them with a offer of $5000 and move on. Son of a biatch, they took me up on the offer! I’ll probably spend that much in T-shirt’s and do rags.

Looking online for a owners manual. It has no, zero, ziltch, nada storage. I guess I’ll look for a leather vest with BIG pockets. Any suggestions for the proper length to order for a get-back whip?

Congrats....:burnout:

The only time I have ever been around one of them, I had Chris on the back of my '84 V65 Sabre, with my brother behind us on his V65 Sabre, up in the old Gold Country. He (the Vrod) was just ahead of me when we hit a passing zone around a sharp corner. I took off and my brother told me that the guy tried as hard as he could to stay up with me, but didn't have the lean angle available like I did.

Needless to say, Chris was NOT happy with me, but my brother and I had a good laugh from it.

So, don't challenge any sport bikes if you are in the mountains!

In the meantime, go out and do some riding on it! :)

No. But thanks for the warning as in a month or so i'll be putting mine in hibernation and I usually change the oil then with a new crush washer.

Just do what I do. Avoid the dealership all together! When I remove the crush washer, I clean it off, flip it over and use it again. My 2010 now has 90K miles on it, and there is no leakage from the drain hole! :oilleak:

:scared2:Waiting for Igofar to chastise me! :rofl1:

The only Harley I have ever seen that I liked. Then I found they discontinued it. Perhaps you could get a backpack, make you look young and cool. Good luck with the bike.

Can't wait to see your next girlfriend! Never thought it would be a V-Rod. Variety is the spice of life as the saying goes.

Just got back from a 60 mile trip on the Natchez Trace. I’m gonna like it. Seems that this year model has the larger engine and 5 gallon tank. It will take a while to get used to forward controls.
