With a lot of thought and not much $$ I used bits of metal in my garage to fabricate a decent shelf. The shelf is from a Simpson Timber tie, perfect because it is a useful width, and has many pre-drilled holes useful for attaching devices. With light duty pliers I twisted two 3 inch T-brackets to a 90 degree bend, and attached them to the windshield posts on my '03. My bike was the only year to have an option of non adjustable windshield, therefore the shelf always stays in the same position. The bolts and nylocs and paint were in my bin of "some day I'll need that stuff". The shelf and brackets weigh about 14 ozs.. I have a Cobra radar detector in the Pelican case.
