Tried to take my V Strom up a rutted 2 track and didn't make it. Dropped the bike on my ankle and broke the distal end of the fibula (forms the bump on the outside of the ankle). No weight bearing for a month and a cast for at least 6 weeks. :(:(

My own fault so I really can't get too upset but it sure is inconvenient. I have (had?) a couple of more trips planned for this summer. I have an Alps trip planned for mid Sept. I am sure hoping that I can make that.

I was wearing Sidi Adventure Goretex boots which are pretty sturdy. I shudder to think what it would be like if I wasn't wearing those.

Be careful out there. It happens fast!!

Ow, sorry to hear that. I knew the riding season in Canada was short, but really... :D

Hope you heal fast and well.

Ouch! Sorry to hear of your bad fortune. Not doing your PT as required will almost certainly make you miss your September trip. And don't push it if you're not certain you're up to it. Better luck!

A bit of a funny adjunct to this whole mess.
I had the x-ray taken and was waiting for the doctor to come in and tell me what they had found. This kid walked in. I thought he was looking for his parents. Turns out he was the doctor. Made Doogy Howser look like a grandfather!!! Nice young man but Geez, sure made me feel my age. When I told him what happened he just kinda looked at me, looked at the chart, back at me, and shook his head.

Oh, I can relate to this. Wish you well on recovery.

December 11 2016 I tore my Distal bicep tendon into two piece. Had emergency surgery. Have had 2 more surgeries (not related), with 2 more possible related to arm issues!

I have "frozen shoulder" I'm fighting now! Have not been able to work hoping for Sept, they say new year maybe if Sept fails.

No bike riding at all, I can't even it on the bike and put upright, so off the road!

The "frozen shoulder" thing really sucks! My wife is just getting over it (finally). Took a year. Weird syndrome that they have no idea what causes it.
Good luck with it.

I work at a teaching hospital... every July 1st we get the kids right out of school on the 1st day... They *really* look young... because they are! :D

Sorry for your pain.

I'm in the same boat. Going into the specialist tomorrow but it looks like I've breaks on both ankle bumps, Tib and Fib. I was lucky to have the hard bags mounted to give me a pocket for my foot when the car hit me mid-bike.

Hope your recovery is going well. Hope mine will too.

There is no good time for a motorcyclist to have dibilitating injuries, but this is the WORST time. Geez it's finally nice out. Sorry to hear you guys are laid up. This summer I have had a kidney stone, 3 weeks straight of diareah, and gout in my ankle. Managed to ride all but 3 days during those episodes but it took perseverance lol, at least nothing got broken yet this year.

Good luck at the Dr.

Here is a gizmo I am using instead of crutches. I am finding it a pretty good substitute for crutches. It frees up your hands.
