Nice looking ride, i like them in white and you don't see too many of them on the road in that color! I have a black 2004 with 30K miles on it but i only have the stock seat which is just OK. Enjoy that RDL!!

looking at options for a 1.5" shorter windshield
I have what your looking for... bought it new about a year ago from Clearview... not sure I'm gonna keep it. Have just installed a stock height from Clearview. If you want to "test" the windshield, bring the wing up sometime and we'll see how it fits you.

Monday morning I rode it a couple hundred miles then started going through maintenance items I plan to benchmark. Yesterday I changed the engine oil/filter and final drive oil and tonight I got down to the air filter. The engine oil and its filter are easier to do compared to the ST but the air filter in the Wing is buried a bit deeper. Coolant, valve check, and hydraulic fluid change yet to come.

Been down deep in my wing too many times... But she goes back together pretty easy, just takes some time.

Yesterday Elvis and I took a long ride. In two weeks of ownership my longest ride was about 200 miles. The bike is very comfortable for me, the longest ride on it was about 200 miles. The ergos work pretty good for me and although the Russell seat was not built for for me it was very comfortable for about 900 miles. The last three hours I was squirming but overall it works for me considering I had not been on the bike before this for any length of time. I took along a sheepskin in case of emergency but I did not have to pull it out for the last leg. The trip covered 1123 GPS miles. The odometer is off about 3% on this GL1800.

The gas mileage is considerably less than than the ST - average ~37 vs ~43 for this type of riding. The tank is 1.1 gallon less so it had me planning fuel stops at 200 miles which is more like my NC700X vs the long 240-275 mile legs the ST can do. This trip went up to the Smokies to see how the GW handled mountain roads and 180 miles were up there on NC28, US129, TN360, TN68 and GA60. The GW has much less ground clearance and had me at times hanging way off to keep hard parts from grinding. There is less ability to change lines once committed - the line cannot be tightened up like on the ST but it acquitted itself very well and she can dance for being such a big bike. I was reminded of the day in 2006 when I rode across Deals Gap and back with Yellow Wolf on his GL1800"RR".

Fun day :)

Nice Dave! On my previous GL1800s I found it was a very natural lean to look over the top of the mirrors in the twisties.

Dave,
How does the slow speed maneuverability compare to the ST?
Honda does a magnificent job of concentrating mass and making heavy bikes like the ST and GL feel hundreds of lbs lighter once they are moving. Still, the GL weighs 153 lbs more than the ST and has a wheel base about 8" longer making it less agile in slow maneuvers. I can easily do 8s inside four adjoining standard parking spaces (18 x 36 feet, police and gymkana riders do it in less) on the ST and right now the GL takes about half again of that in width but I'm getting more comfortable with each practice. Also the clutch on the GL engages further out from the bar while the low speed fueling is different. I'm getting better but got a ways to go!
