Good evening fellow STt'ers I did a ride today with a nice mix of slow in town driving and some country backroads and some major highways 249.5 miles 5.744 gallons = 43.62 MPG.
I feel much better about it now because the other riding I was doing local and some highway averaging 37ish so not so bad for a 109K machine

Sounds pretty normal to me. You may want to average several tanks when calculating MPGs as it can be difficult to fill up the same way every time. I've seen a few low numbers followed by high numbers (or vice versa) all during the same way of riding. To me that indicated that I wasn't very careful when filling the tank

Sounds like your bike is something super normal! My bikes made 44 last year this year the year before and for ever running 70 to 75 mph.. I press the average reset button about jan 1 each year and it reads 44 about all the time.

Hmm.
I use that mpg computer as a source of entertainment.
At steady throttle, 70mph, I can watch it go from 22 to 79mpg.
I would average 42mpg, before I started pulling a trailer around, then it dropped about 10%, with or without Kaiser in it.
The car tire seems to have reduced it a little more, but I haven't run the numbers on it yet.
EDIT: 2008 1300

I wouldn’t worry about 109,000 miles.

Use a GPS and an app to track fuel use over time to average out variables. The odometer and the onboard computer are not that accurate.

I've had two STs, almost always hand calculate my mpg. My 08 was almost always within 1mpg of accurate, my 10 is at least 10% pessimistic, I believe due to a speedo healer. With corrections made for mileage, they both hand calculate pretty close. 43ish overall mean, as low as high thirties if riding antisocially, as high as low 50s (twice, ever) steady 45-65mph no traffic, no stops, 350 miles at a time.
