Moby has been acting up a bit in hot weather, whenever I got below 3 bars on fuel gauge, I would have occasional stumbling on acceleration (especially low speed riding) and if parked 15 or so minutes, felt almost like it would die, always cleared up, but I knew it was a sign of pump going bad. So I picked up a pump from Amazon (about $65), and today I replaced it. Not hard, took about an hour. I reused the gasket, and filter. Hoses were in great condition, steel wool looking filter was spotless, and I back flushed the filter, and it came out clean. Lower tank was absolutely spotless, I knew the upper tank was clean, but made my day seeing the lower so clean. Took a short test ride, and no leaks. Not riding right now because tires are totally bald (500 mile two up trip couple weeks ago killed them (it was very hot)and we're poor right now) so real test in a couple weeks. 20230509_162847.jpg20230509_151637.jpg

Did you see there was a difference in the torque sequence and pattern between years in your service manual?

I have this bad habit ... if I'm going to replace the fuel pump, the gasket and hoses (factory only!!) will also be replaced. It's both piece of mind and not having to do the job a second time.

Follow up on fuel pump
WOW big difference, more power, better mileage, NO hesitation, definitely feels better. Ran it down to almost empty and NONE of the problems it was having before. Really glad I changed it out

I have Quantum fuel pumps for my replacements in my ST1100s.
Only one is installed, but it has worked fine for many miles though I had to add a pressure regulator.
But as was noted, DON'T USE THE HOSES THEY PROVIDE - VERY POOR QUALITY (at least for the ST1100 ones).
