My buddy's Goldwing just turned 6 years old yesterday, 219,237 miles. Not including warranty work, he spent roughly $10,000 including gas and tires.

So, roughly that's $1600 per year or $.05 per mile.

They are pretty much gas and go... exculding oil changes, tires, and basic maintenance ;)

The $10K included the original purchase price of the bike??

Usually the depreciation is the largest single cost. The original owner of my ST paid $10,300 for the bike, rode it 18,800 miles and sold it to me for $4300. That's a cost of $6K in just depreciation (or more than 30 cents per mile) not counting gas, tires or any other maintenance, nor all the farkles it came with . . . . Corbin, windshield, bags, rack etc. If I had to guess, I'd say his owership cost him about 45 cents per mile

No, that does not include purchase price but then that would be Total Cost of Ownership. ;)

I just thought it interesting.

Yes, a nickel a mile is VERY reasonable - Just shows it pays to buy new and then ride the wheels off it . . . . if you wind up selling with few miles on the clock it gets real expensive by comparison

The only cheaper way would be to buy used with really low miles like I did and then put 200K on it from there

Includes insurance?

Accessories?

I hate to do this but not including all costs is a little like buying a home and then not taking into account all associated taxes, utilites and upkeep costs.

A good way to quickly find yourself in the poor house.

I found my Goldwing had a habit of consuming farkle dollars..... but the cost of operation was low and resale value is good. Enjoyed that bike.

If I could hit the lottery for a lifetime supply of gas and tires, I'd be a happy camper!
