What happens if you disconnect the ambers, do the low beams come on? Were the ambers wired by a relay and do they have a separate switch or do they come on with the low beams?

The ambers were installed by your shop back in Boston, right?? Hope they didn't do something weird to your electrical system.

Both high and low beams have separate relays that energize the respective systems, its possible your low beam relay is acting up.
 
Yeah, what UP said... you need the headlights, you can always open your tinted shield so they can see the white in your eyes.. that would scare me if I saw that in a rear view mirror..

In the middle of nowhere! I was pleasantly surprised. If I remember right, about 700' drop to the water.

Going to a mechanic my kid uses here in pagosa. Gonna strip off some plastic myself to save $$ and speed up the process i really cant stand my bike with things that dont work. Especially safety things.

Have i told you my ambers are totally bad assed? The knuckleheads pulled the wires so tight they loosened up every time i turned left. A easy fix, but i had to take the windshield and plastic off to get at it. The mechanic i mean...

Kept losing power and finally the bike quit on me. Of course, miles from cell or service
So, i took it all apart and replaced the gas filter with a tent pole repair tube (thanks joe!) and off i went. Bought two gas filters at napa and will be correcting things today.
My deepest thanks to the many riders that stopped to make sure i was ok.

So Mike, did the bike run fine after your fix? If not, I would suspect the fuel shutoff valve. There’s a very good Article on the bypass of the shutoff valve:

Runs great! Must have grabbed a gulp of dirty gas. New filter is in and working well
