Got a chance to ride a K1600GA today
I have to say, I'm impressed
Engine is silky smooth, suspension great, riding position good, instruments impressive, great wind protection, gearbox was a little clunky but shift assist is cool. Was surprized how small top case and bags are, just looking, don't see a couple helmets fitting in (im probably wrong). Now I want to ride a new Goldwing 20230407_091832.jpg20230407_091842.jpg

I test rode one back when I was looking to purchase my first ST. Something, I found the gearbox clunky. It sold me on the ST. Other than that it was a cool ride. The new Goldwings are pretty sweet! Rented on a while back. My plan is, still, to purchase one for 2up riding. Just waiting for these over-inflated prices to drop a bit.

Have you seen the size of the newer Goldwing top case and bags?
As of '22 the top case will actually fit 2 helmets.

I’m a little biased, but I love my K1600 GTL. That engine will pull in all gears. Just brought out of storage today. Hoping to get some serious miles on her this year. View attachment 310113
I'll race ya. Only backwards and only if you don't have a reverse on it.

Nice looking bike. I hope to see you several times this year too.

Why do I get the impression that you aren't happy with your ST? It seems like you are test riding everything out there..

No, in fact when I left the BMW dealership, I thought about how much I love my ST. The BMW was very nice, but doesn't have the soul of the ST, feels too insulated (?) I guess. Really makes me wish Honda would come back to the ST and update it. Just taking advantage of Demo Days, hey free Donuts!

Honda sure has screwed the pooch on this one...and pushed quite a few of us to BMW. A few years ago, two of the long time ST riders and stalwarts of the OHSTOC showed up on new K-bikes.

That's why I don't test ride:D

My first road trip was on my 1969 Honda 750. Three changes of clothes, toothpaste/brush and four spark plugs rolled up in a towel, which was waterproofed with a clear plastic bag from the cleaner's and held to the back half of the seat with two bungee cords. Everything touring related has been 'up' from that point including the reliability of makes other than Honda...which has remained my yardstick since way back then.
'Best' is a personal opinion, make yourself happy.

Hmmm, so you didn't try an RT?...

It is nice to ride someone else's new motorcycle, when they pay for the gas too...
But I just like riding motorcycle.
All kinds, really.

^^This, exactly…I don’t have the bankroll for a new bike (I do actually, but I’m cheap). I have the variety of the STs and…a scooter…a scooter you say??? Love the STs but the Silverwing always puts a stupid grin on my face. Not the fastest by a long shot, but having it build power and speed rather quickly, is always a good time. There will, for now at least, be faster and better bikes out there.

Sheryl Crow said it best in one of her songs…

“It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you have!”

I will say that K1600GA looks very nice though.

I tried several times to preregister to ride the K and the RT on line but it wouldn't let me, got there when they first opened (9 am) and got luck and rode the K, by that time a lot of people had shown up, and I would have had to wait till 12:30 to ride the RT
