I agree with him that swapping engines is often easier than rebuilding them, but really is what he has is a 75 Goldwing frame with 1,000,000 miles...Since the odometers in that era rolled over at 100k miles you have to take his word for it that its rolled over 9 other times prior to this one.
I don't really see how this is of any consequence. If an engine fails, its just another replacement part in the overall scheme of things. When you do an engine swap the DMV doesn't force you to reset the odometer to the mileage on the replacement engine, because the odometer mileage is an attribute of the complete vehicle, not its individual parts. He has put a million miles on that vehicle, it doesn't need to be qualified down to the individual components.I agree with him that swapping engines is often easier than rebuilding them, but really is what he has is a 75 Goldwing frame with 1,000,000 miles...
Not that putting 1,000,000 miles on motorcycles is a small task...just saying...
if you scroll down you can see a pic of his odometer at 999,999 then 0 when it rolled over to 1,000,000Since the odometers in that era rolled over at 100k miles you have to take his word for it that its rolled over 9 other times prior to this one.
You know that old saw, "This here axe is the best axe I've ever owned. I replaced the handle three times and the head twice." Regardless - the Owner is the one who has put a million miles on a bike, and on the same one? Heck of an accomplishment in this throw away world.I agree with him that swapping engines is often easier than rebuilding them, but really is what he has is a 75 Goldwing frame with 1,000,000 miles...

Nope. His odometer was at 99,999.9 before rolling over. The older bikes had a tenths digit in both the main odometer and the trip odometer.if you scroll down you can see a pic of his odometer at 999,999 then 0 when it rolled over to 1,000,000
You are right, I blew it up on my ipad and it does show 99,999.9
