I have 5000 miles on my '06 ST1300. Now that I have retired I will be putting on around 2000 + per year. Obviously tire mileage is not a huge concern to me. I have recently received a brand new Hankook 205/50-ZR17 Ventus K110 for $64.01 delivered to my door from ebay which I will be installing in a few years when my OEM tire wears out. Please withhold the "dry rot" comments.

As a darksider myself, I do like my Hankook...but if I was only putting on 2000 miles a year, I'd still be running motorcycle tires. There isn't anything wrong with CTs...but you just wouldn't be taking advantage of any of the benefits, such as the annoyance of having to order several tires a year, having to remove a half worn tire before a long trip so you don't have to change it while on the road; and saving money by buying a cheaper tire that lasts 2-3x as long.

But if you are set on it...go for it.
