Michelin tire pressure

I started a thread a few days ago about tire size for my 1992 st1100. Got lots of good responses. I have the 110/60 on the rear as the tire is almost new (Pilot Road 4). The Pilot Road 4 front does not come in an 18 for the front so I went with the Road 3 110/80-18. Wondering if anyone has experience with pressure for these tires. Past threads indicate that it becomes a personal preference so wonder if anyone has varied from the standard 36/42 pressures for these tires.

Thanks from a newbie.

quite true, experiment with different pressures and find which you prefer. Some people like 42/42, but when I first got my bike I found that 42 in the front caused me to chirp the tire too much under hard braking. I went back to 36/42 or 38/42 and liked that better. But that was back in my younger days when I was used to riding sportbikes, so with a less aggressive riding style 42 in front might be OK.

I think you mean a 170/60 on the rear? On my old ST1100 36/42 worked well with bias tires but with radials she was happier with 40/42, F/R respectively.

You are right about the sizing - must have punched in the numbers too quickly and mixed front numbers and back numbers. Looks like closer to 42 in the front is what I'll try. Thanks for the recommendations.

I think it has to do with the kind of Riding you are planning.
Long distance Highway riding you will probably get better Tire wear and Mileage if the Front is close to 42.
If you find the front to be a little rough you may want to drop a couple of PSI for comfort.

Aggressive riders will want closer to 36-38 PSi Front to increase the contact patch and Traction.
I find 38 F 42 R works well for me.
