MMOTO Rack Install

I recently ordered and received this rack for my ST1100A:

A forum member who owns this rack (kiltman) suggested, based on his experience with a cracked bolt, that I measure the gap between the head of the supplied bolts and the tailpiece and compare it with the thickness of the rack. I did that and there was enough of clearance, even more when you add the washers of course.




I was prepared to do some hammering if things didn't quite line up, but it lined up perfectly.





So it was just a simple matter of installing the bolts and washers and voilà!





The rack is solid and looks good also.

Looks good. I’m pleased it went smoothly for you.
The concept of this rack and functionality is super. The con is removing or installing a pannier, as you have to keep the handle of the bag in the down position so you have to support the bag from the bottom.

@jrp , I like this luggage rack, also. It protects the panniers also. I hope that the firm, from the Ukraïn, that sells them, could deliver one to me in the future ...

So very sad what's happenning in the Ukraine.

I have this rack on my St1100. It is quite a nice system. The rack I have has the Givi quick release mounts incorporated into it for the top case. Makes for a clean install. Too bad about the manufacturer being in Ukraine. What a mess. Hoping for the best for the Ukrainians.

This is a great rack. Important to remember that the subframe on the ST1100 (its under the plastic) that the 4 rear bolts attach to is prone to cracking, so it might be wise to add a reinforcement plate to the subframe or to be relatively conservative in terms of the amount of weight you put on the rack. The 2 mounts in the front probably help to add to the capacity.
