We need riders to help out. June 6-7 (Saturday-Sunday). We'll except you for both days or one day and put you up overnight. Riders that are 2 up.. perfect!

Every year the MS Society organizes a 150 mile Benefit bicycle ride to raise funds for the MS Society. The ride starts just north of Pittsburgh (Cranberry area) to Conneaut Ohio to the lake Erie edge. This is a 150 mile ride broke up in 2 days for the peddle bikers.. In the years past approx 2-4k (I've seen 6k in yrs past) riders perform this ride. Approx 400 volunteers assist daily with all the needs required. The Pa Western Gold Wing Riders Chapter is responsible for organizing the motorcycle riders to help with all kinds of assistance. Years past I have directed traffic at "bad" intersections or traveled up and down the line assisting riders, broken bikes, first aid, etc. Overall it has always been a great contribution for myself to the MS Society. This is a highly organized ride.. Everything about it will be planed by a host of people. You probably never seen such organizing for an event?

The actual routes and details will not be let out until the days before the ride for security purposes. Food will be provided along the route. All motorcycles will meet early on the first day to get details and orders. Housing for the overnight will be provided at Thiel College.

I have a bicycle team that I associate with that will provide "end of day festivities" for "my group" at the college Saturday night. Make sure you contact me if your volunteering. Because this is such a big event, they will need a heads up to organize this also. Food, drinks, etc.

At the end of the day Sunday when the last rider passes your area of responsibility your free to go hit some twisties!

The last 3 yrs I have not done this because it interfered with OH-Stoc.. This year it is the week before.. I'm all in!
I am told last year the turn out for bikers was really low. Maybe 20 bikes?? Definitely not acceptable..

If you think you would like to volunteer and help out on your motorcycle. Please PM me for details. This event requires everyone to be registered via online app.

If you have contact with other biker forums or groups please feel free to copy the above and get it to them.. The more volunteers we get the better. I can provide all information necessary to get them signed up. Did I tell you this was very organized??

If you need accommodations for Friday night (like myself). Let me know.

Hoping allot of bikers show up this year!

I would so like to help with this! I did SAG support several years back with T_C for the "Stooges" ride.

Unfortunately being the week before OH-STOC, I'll be busy finalizing my cat herding duties. If, by some miracle I'm finished, I'll help out.

I've ridden as moto escort for other bicycle events, and enjoyed it. I encourage anyone who is considering this one to raise their hand. It is a different sort of riding experience than any other, and very enjoyable.

Maryland is not that far away to attend..

This is important priority #1.. MS Ride priority #2..

Send us more information
Other than what I described in the post.. I can email you the sign up link. and get you on the group email
Basically We get a Hotel room Friday night. meet up with the ride coordinator early Saturday morning and get our plans for the day. Everyone is paired up or paired with someone you want to be working with.
  • Go out all day and do our duty as assigned.
  • Meet up at the end of the day at Thiel College for dinner and drinks at a tent they put up for our bicycle team.
  • Stay in a dorm room overnight.
  • Repeat Sunday for the rest of the ride.

As with most large bicycle events they have food stops every approx 10 miles. For all involved. The local towns also provide allot of amenities.

In years past the last part of the ride Sunday is over early afternoon.. Depends on when the last rider for your responsibilities finishes.

It is a long day Saturday. especially if they have thousands of peddle riders.
One year I rode the line and helped with repairing bicycles, pulling them out of ditches, psychological support, etc.. Usually the basic tools we carry on the motorcycle is more than enough. Most bicyclist have their own tools also.

If you come-- I'll make sure there is Yeungling beer for Saturday night at the tent!

This is an interesting option, nothing I've ever thought of previously. I'm intrigued but won't give this particular opportunity for thought because I have family visiting from out of province at that time.

Doug,

I’m signed up. Hard to imagine thousands of cyclists all at one place. Really looking forward to assisting in this event.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can or should be doing.

Shuey Wolfe

PS: For anyone else that's interested. When signing up, you don't need to enroll in the "SignUpGenius". When you get to that page, you're already done, all signed up. You can just close the window and you'll receive an email thanking you for signing up.

Thanks for Volunteering Shuey!

The Rider meeting will be 7:00 AM Saturday morning at Northgate Shopping Center, Zeilienople Pa. There we will get the plans and details.
From the sounds of discussions the motorcycles will start about the 20 mile mark with responsibilities.. As in the past we will cover the remote areas. Local's will take care of their towns, etc.

Hotels are plentiful around the Cranberry Area just north of Pittsburgh.

I'll send out a PM to everyone on my list with details on hotel for anyone looking to meet up Friday night..

STILL NEED MORE RIDERS TO HELP OUT.. PM ME.

We're signed up. This is something new for us, but sounds like fun. The best part is helping out those that truly need it.

I am interested in helping with this. Not sure if I can do both days. Would it help if I could assist for one day?

I would think anything you can help with is appreciated.

If your thinking of helping you will need to register.

PM me your email and I can send you the info.

thanks again

I believe I've emailed everyone to date that has PM'd me for the registration info.
If you haven't seen this email let me know?

Also as a note.. I received a news letter email from the co-coordinator of this event.. As stated in a previous thread, I haven't done this in a while.. So apparently the last couple of years the turn out wasn't thousands (maybe 1500 last year) for this particular ride because they would schedule several of these in the same year throughout several states.
This year there is just 2 of these events. So the turn out for this ride is expected to be high. Just a FYI
