As a few ST riders I know, and others I know about, rode Nighthawks before moving up to STs, I wanted to make it known that the present site owner has decided to permanently close the existing site and isn't willing to transfer ownership.

So, the old Nighthawk Forum ( https://nighthawk-forums.com/ ) site will be closed forever on Sept. 1, but with an amazing amount of help from two or three other forum members, I am opening a new one ( https://nighthawkforums.com/ ).

Note the only difference is that the new URL is the same except without the hyphen. We will probably change some appearance settings, but wanted to let people know, and we are trying to preserve and transfer as much content as we can.

Once the old URL is allowed to expire, we hope to grab it and set up a re-direct to the new site, so older forum members still looking for it, or new potential members still interested in Nighthawks, can find the new site if they find the old URL.

I had a 450 Nighthawk back in high school. Black with silver and red pin striping.

It's a shame the old owner won't transfer the ownership. Also a shame if they won't help you with the data files / migration.

Once closed you can use some of the wayback machines data scraping to get some files, but a lot of the attachments will be gone. For now I'm guessing you're doing html page grabs?

Good on you though for doing what you can to keep the forum & knowledge alive.

Good on you Larry for keeping it going! It was a great site back in the day. I met a lot of great people through it that I still keep in touch with. I check in now and then. I'll be sure to check out the new site once it's up and running.

One of the top five most beautiful bikes Honda ever made. Feature rich and a fair amount of performance. A truly great UJM.

I had a chance to own one in red for nothing – a little bro to my V65 Sabre. There wasn't much room but it retrospect I should have made it work. If Honda made that same bike today (but with FI) I'd own one.

Here's a few pics of mine when I had it on a couple trips with the Nighthawk folks.

Robbie, didn't we first meet at the Back of the Dragon trip in Wytheville?

Before the WJ5 I had a Rooster:

Our MSF range had the 250 15 years ago, along with Kawasaki 125 Eliminators for short folk.
The 250s were not made to run their entire lives in 2nd and 3rd gear at 20mph, and at the end of their service I sometimes had to change plugs 2 or 3 times in one bike, over a weekend.
As this became more common the director auctioned them off to the public. Thinking I would like to have a nice, inexpensive around town scooter (anticipating ~$400), I was floored when each and every one sold for $1000 - 1400.
They had all been dropped, most had bent bars, dented headlight shells, scrapes and scratches, and still commanded big money (IMO) for the shadow they were in.
They were replaced with the Suzuki TU250, with FI.
But they were Hondas, I guess, but still too much money.

Yep, 750 nighthawk is the first bike I ever wanted but never owned. Now they are scarce and command high prices for those in good low mileage condition.
Maybe I’ll kinda look around for a 450 or a 650 instead.

Nice to see this page. My first bike was a 1982 650 Nighthawk. From there I went to the 2001 ST1100. It was a nice bike but by the time I got it overhauled and working good, I sold it. My wife even learned how to ride on it and kept it for a couple of seasons. Here's a picture with a trophy I won at a bike show. Not much to brag about as there were only about 5 vintage bikes to judge on. :D

Well, in a strange way back on the site. I picked up a 92 750 Nighthawk. It runs, but not great. Will pull carbs over winter, clean and jet, along with other maint.

Too bad the other site closed with loss of all that info.20221024_151846.jpg

Keep trying to join over there...Recaptcha problems.

Anyone want to answer this here? 2 metal brackets attached to underside of seat where grab strap bolts to: are they necessary if I never carry a passenger? They make the seat very hard to remove with the backrest/rack blocking the sliding rearward.
