Well, I added a stable mate to the V-Strom this last Tuesday. What a ride! Lots of variables to set and play with. The auto-adjusting damping works nice. My first ride with cruise! Yamaha has really put some work into this bike.
Thanks goes out to Sarnia and Restored for their input before I made my buy.

Nice, Congrats.

They have continually updated them since my son's 2018

Thanks Brian, I've already started to receive the farkles! Ordered rear rack and top-box, tank ring and bag, side-stand foot, nap-time bars, Grip Puppies and instrument protection.
Will probably need another bottle of blue Loctite!
Any ideas on MRA Vario top mount or ROX risers or the likes of?

Nice bike; I've thought about one of those for myself at some point. Yamaha do make cracking bikes, I've just been out for a tear around on this one. 24,000km in my care so far, just had the 40k valve clearance check done (no change required) and the bike has been fautless. Enjoy yours, and tell us what you think of it.

Decided to go with a Madstad windshield system. I also added a Nemo II chain oiler, a couple of fender extensions, a RAM mount on the Madstad, Fiamm low tone horn and a seat slope mod from JK3D. The radiator guard just arrived and is awaiting install.

Are higher revs distracting in the freeway?
Well, if I recall, the revs at 70mph are close to what my V-Strom 650 is putting out. But being two totally different animals, the feel is way different too. With only a little over 500 miles, I've not really done a lot of freeway. Yes, it feels like the engine is working more than the V, but then I look at what it's turning and I realize how much more it can go. I will say the exhaust seems louder, but the tips dump about due south of where I sit. I wouldn't say the revs are distracting, just the nature of a triple with close to 50 more horsepower that I welcome.

I have a Madstad and it's great. Can you post the Fiamm and Nemo catalog numbers. I've been thinking about a louder horn and an oiler as well.

Since it's chain drive, can you change the front sprocket for one with an additional tooth or two? My VStrom came with a larger front sprocket. Stock is 15/47, it came with 17/47. For gravel and hilly forest service roads it was geared too high, so I changed it to 16/47, which is what I'm running now. A 17 tooth in front dropped the revs on the highway.

I’m late to the party, but congratulations are in order!

thanks again for letting me try out your VStrom at OHSToc. I gotta say that I enjoy owning one (2007 VStrom 650) and just having a hoot with it.

Enjoy your Yamaha.
My Yamaha is a 657 L small bore……. Had it since I was 16. I doubt anyone on this forum knows what a gem that model is. ;). It will be the only Yamaha I will ever own. ;)

You can get the Fiamm horns at most auto parts, Princess Auto, Canadian Tire, etc., for about $20.00 each.
Fiamm Freeway Blaster high note E, #72102
Fiamm Freeway Blaster high note F, #72112.
Install one of each with a wiring harness that delivers full power and people will think that it is a big old Buick bearing down on them.

Yes JT Sprockets has both front and rear in both + and - sizes. They also post the ratio change from stock. Just be sure to pull up the new catalog...
