I have gotten a price estimate for adapter plate duplication: $450 for one or $350 each for ten.
Is that reasonable? Would there be a demand?

Yes, machined from aluminum. There's measuring, drawing, programming, setup, etc.Machined from plate stock?
Wondering how the price of a printed part would compare. Bound to be a shop near Richmond that does this.
Regardless of price, if we want to keep our early 1100's going we will likely need one at some point.
It appears someone at FB beat you to it...

Given what it takes for fab something that seems to good to be true. Wouldn't seem like something you could make up in volume.I mean $ 75,- for a quality 11202-MAJ-G20 pattern would be a great deal...
After you have the first one programmed, you just put a block of aluminum in the vise, and hit the start button. Come back in an hour, and take it out of the vise. Or put 6 blocks in a fixture, hit start button, and come back in the morning, making 6 at a time. Hardly any labor involved, after the initial programming of the CNC mill.Given what it takes for fab something that seems to good to be true. Wouldn't seem like something you could make up in volume.
Yes, I believe so. The one pictured looks exactly like the one I have waiting to be installed. Someday.Excuse my ignorance, but would scrap alternators such as this have the parts you require.

OBF, yes I don't doubt the transportation issues or indeed the cost."Does not ship to USA"
True, but the larger ones tend to cost quite a bit and the owners want to get a decent return on their investment. I read an article about how these things were revolutionizing small machine shops in China. Guys would get a loan, buy a cnc mill, and manufacture parts (yes, often copies of parts originally made in other countries (read USA)). However, they had to run these machines 20 hours a day for several years to make them pay for themselves. Not described was the cost of tooling or upkeep. I've often said that buying a drill or router is the cheap part. If you use those day in and day out, the bits end up costing much more than the initial cost of the tool. After you have the first one programmed, you just put a block of aluminum in the vise, and hit the start button.
