When I look at my Michelin pr4gt’s I think they still look ok except for the middle which is consistently 2mm for both front and back. Outside 3mm. 14000 klm on them. Hoping to get another 2-3k klm more out of them this year????
5317 date code. Bought 2019. Very little riding because of Covid.
recent post here somewhere mentioned manufacturer mentioned 10 yrs old should still be ok. Maybe get same tire as they are cheaper and I like them.
Thoughts?

Unless the tyres have visible ageing (specifically sidewall cracking or the treat is age-hardened) then I'd happily keep riding on those, at least until you hit the wear bars.

We clearly ride very different roads, I can't get much more than 8000km from my PR5GTs, but they are good fun.

Look fine to me. Swap when you hit the wear bars. Not much rubber left at that point.

And remember....tires are like toilet paper. The roll runs out faster at the end....... And no one likes to be without toilet paper...!

There's much truth in that. A mate and I decided to do a 900km day ride, and his tyre looked kind of thin at the start, but with tread visible. After 350km, I could see a silver flash from his rear wheel which turned out to be steel belts showing through...was a fancy Pirelli sport tyre on an Aprilia V4. We were lucky that it was a Saturday and to find an open bike store who were willing to call a mechanic in to replace the tyre.

That’s what I am worried about. I hope they last the year

Wow my experience as well on my V4 Tuono with Pirelli Supercorsas. My tires looked worn but good yet. One 200 mile ride in twisties and the rear had 6 inch long strips of cords showing. Just like toilet paper indeed lol.

This is the culprit...I have to cut him some slack, his sister taught me to ride her CG125 in 1981.
