I've been looking at all the posts about being able to see or hear your radar detector. Escort sells a powered speaker that I've plugged into my 8500 and i'll guaranty that it will got your attention. Have had them on a BMWLT, BMWGS, BMWRT and just ordered one for my newly purchased 2004 ST,( I love this St, it handles the twisties better than the RT. Ahy way enough blabbing , buy the Escort speaker toy will not be disappointed.

I have a screamer on my 8500.....just paid for it's self (uhhh again)this last weekend. Although the screamer is not discrete by any means it works.
It's not very popular at stoc events when I forget to turn it off at 4am scooting out to get some local sunrise shots......:D

If u have a 8500 why not stop by radio shack and purchase a 8.00 mono ear bud speaker, plug it in the 8500 and in your ear, adjust the volume and off you go. later you could add a audio system and tie it in with the 8500. Discrete, and expandable. Kieth

The speaker I mentioned will not overload the 8500, most folks do not read the instructions on the 8500 and they plug in a stereo 3.5mm plug instead of a mono 3.5mm plug.....the stereo lead shorts it out.............Kieth

It's not the size of a speaker but it's impedance.
iirc an ear bud is maybe 32ohms. A discreet speaker is probably 8 or maybe even 4 ohms.

good to know about the stereo plug :)

Well the large speaker is too much for the escort to drive , but most of the time the stereo mono lead is the problem. If you wanted to generate more volume you could get a amp boostereoo, amplirider, mix it, but I would suggest spending money for a central hub system , autocom, etc. then hook up some tunes, your escort, add a 2nd headset and chat with the wire ?????hmmmm maybe I've gone too far........Kieth
