Suits Rain (?) Suit Saga

I got a Tourmaster rain suit, it was raining today - Florida Summer Weather - so I went ahead and put the rain suit on.
So far, so good...
I didn't quite get wet before the rain stopped. Those rain suits are not very comfortable for wearing in hot, muggy weather. I thought I was in an oven and I carried it with me.
When I got done with what I was doing, I headed home without the rain suit, of course I ran into some rain.
I stopped and put the rain suit on again, that made the rain stop again.....
Sweat ran down my legs so bad my socks are all wet now.

Put it on and the rain stops, now that's a rain suit!!! What more could you ask for? Seriously, my Frogg Toggs are pretty light and I don't sweat under them.

Rain suits need to be breathable especially in a humid climate. Otherwise you get wet from the inside out.

I can't spend a sweaty, sticky Florida summer in that Tourmaster rain suit. I've taken the recommendations and ordered a Frogg Toggs rain suit.

Yep, Uncle Phil calls that 'shake & bake'. You need to find something windproof, waterproof and breathable.

As long as this subject has started. What type of Frogg Toggs did you purchase? I am worried about the one size fits all. Those sizes I usually drown in. :rain1:

I usually wear 2XL and I bought XL in a 2 piece and its a perfect fit. They are cut pretty generously and have elastic, zippers and drawstrings. I really like the 2 piece idea.

It's a Dry Ducks - size Medium. I looked at a Frogg Togg at WalMart. It was so big that it would have flapped until it fell apart. That's why I have the Tourmaster, it comes in sizes too.

Another option is a Gortex jacket. Waterproof and breathes. Well vented. No need to stop to put rain gear on ... But then it'll never stop raining I 'spose. ;-)

I don't know about Dry Ducks but I believe Road Toads are the ones for motorcycles. Built a little tougher for wind. I am pretty sure they are sized so that an XL fits over an XL riding jacket etc. They do work great and as cool of rain gear as you are going to get.

This is why I gave up on rain suits and mesh gear and went with Olympia gear. AST jacket and Ranger pants. When it starts to rain just zip the vents closed (no need to stop) and keep riding. Comfortable for me to mid 90's. Not to comfortable above that temp, but still usable. The pants also block what little heat comes up from the engine vents. With the proper under wear this gear is good for all seasons and temps I ride in.
Aerostich, Tourmaster and others make similar gear.

Please post your opinion of the Frogg Toggs.

I have the Motoport air mesh kevlar with the rain liners. Problem is you have to strip on the highway before it rains because the liners fit under the suit. Would like to pull the rain suit over the Motoport to save time and energy.

I have the 2 piece Frogg Toggs and am very satisfied with them. 80mph in pouring rain for 3 days and they look like new, no tears or rips and very lightweight. XL fit over my 2XL gear, 2 coats and boots. Easy to get into and my set was only $70.00. I tried on and bought mine at Cycle Gear.

Exactly the issues why my bet is on GoreTex stitches... when it starts to rain I simply close my front zipper all the way, clip the collar band in, close the top vent on my Shoei and... keep going...

But which model of the FrogToggs do you have. I was looking at the Olympia rain suits but wasn't sure about the breathability of these either. I would like to find something in high viz colors.

Even the black suit, which mine is, has reflective piping and material all over it. Mine is the Hogg and I have nothing but good things to say about it. It rolls up into a small article and fits in my pannier easily. Where I'm going today, I'm going to need it.
