Rear Brake Pistons Too Far Gone?

Mine looked about like that and I used steel wool and metal polish. Worked fine and still working fine.

BTW you can pump the piston out pretty far and then you can twist it in it's bore to clean easier.

Realized there were a few k left on the rears, but had to schedule a NYS Inspection and didn't want to risk failing, so I went to work tonight heeding the preceeding advice.
The front pads went smoothly (even pulled to clean and lube sliders), so I dropped the pipes to slide the axel and pulled the rear caliper.
"Flossed" with a Green Scotch Pad, and cleaned with DOT4 and q-tips. They came out pretty well! Was able to push in by hand, test drove fine.

Thanks again guys!

That looks quite a bit better than the 1st pic.

Granted they look better but I can still see pits. Please do everyone a favor by keeping a close eye on them and inspect for leaks before each ride. ;)

Yeah, I was looking on the phone and it looked good 'til Dink's post then I zoomed in. The surface does look a bit rough.
