Unfortunately I didnt get any tool kits with the bikes so don't have a way to adjust the preload, thankyou for offering to check the dimensionsIf you have the tool kit that came with the ST1100, have you checked in it? It had one. I can measure mine tonight, if I can remember!
very useful, thankyou
I managed to pick up the exact same one second hand using your photos as a guide, it fits perfectly, thankyouYou're quite welcome. Let me know if you need any more, and let us know if yours works.
Maybe try grinding the edge of the "prong" on your C spanner so that it is a slightly sharper angle where it sits in the slot on the adjustment ring, you need to be quick and not let the C spanner heat up or else you will need to re heat treat it ! I have used a dremel before ( as opposed to an angle grinder) . Also, apply some oil to the adjustment rings beforehand if it looks dry (i.e. ungreased)my c spanner keeps slipping off
Sorry if I'm stating the obvious here, there is the rebound adjuster on one side (top mounting) and the shaft locking screw on the other side. The shaft locking screw has been 'peened' into the mounting , you can see the radial marks, this wont move at all (and you don't want it to !!)..... the preload adjuster ,ive tried flathead with rubber hammer but still wont budge ,any advise please
