Hey Everyone,
I did the saddlebag key mod years ago with the black knob and epoxy with the cut key in it that stays in the saddlebag. It's a great mod, but now I have a 2nd bike and I want to do the same for it. I can't remember what black cap I used for the mod, and my searches haven't turned anything up. Anyone know where we get the black caps to use for this mod? Thanks!

Of these three I have used on various saddlebag or frunk knobs I liked the Radio Shack 1.5" best for the ST1300 bags.

Part number 39113-MCA-671 Goldwind radio knob
Radio Shack 1.5" knob
CRC Brake Kleen aerosol can knob

I got some knobs from Honda that are used on some version of GoldWing electronics.

You can use anything. For one bike I used cabinet knobs from Lowes. I have also used the round balls from old Ram mounts.

Oil bottle caps. I have used these on all of my bikes over the years. Go to a local Automotive Oil change place and see if they have any empty oil bottles.

While I find it very convenient to leave these in all thetime, after 175K or rain, snow and dirt the insides of the locks do get dirty.

You make a good point. I only used one in my ST and usually kept it in the lock on top of the left hand fairing pocket.

Good point. I haven't had that issue, but only have about 35K on my bike. Although, I'd think the cap, if designed to fit fairly flush, should keep most of that out.

In most cases it’s best to flush it.
