Could someone please tell me the correct way to remove the ABS plugs from the main control unit?. It looks like someone's been in there already and not done a very good job at an electrical repair,thinking I need to get the soldering iron out.

I haven't separated them on the 1100, however, there will be a little tab locking each one in place.
You will need to look carefully to locate them and then a small screwdriver usually helps to "ease" the tab.
Dont force them, they are designed to come apart without undue force.
