I didn't realize that the color stripes and white text were printed before, and survived through molding.

....so then the rubber stuff is like wrapped on a thing and then a big thing comes down and there's steam and stuff and then there's - like - a tire, man!

Thanks for that video. I love "how it's made" videos!

I actually have 2 bikes with Shinko tires and I think those were mine in that stack you saw!

The tread design in the tire video is that of the SR777 cruiser tire. I'd like to see a video of how a modern dual compound tire is made.

One of my local shops will not mount shinko tires on heavier touring bikes, but they did put them on my Suzuki Savage.

I wonder why as long as the tire's weight rating matches that found on the DOT tire placard on the bike. Weight ratings are almost perfectly correlated to tire size - if the tire size is the right size the rating should be the same regardless of brand.

Seems like their personal bias is entering the picture due to some preconceived notion... do they know Shinko's parent company is Yokohama?
24 years ago Shinko purchased some equipment and tire molds from Yokohama who was exiting the motorcycle tire mfg business.

That is the extent of it, there is no ownership of Shinko by Yokohama. Brand new 1990s technology but it does save significant R & D spent by other brands in the last couple of decades.
