OK, I've searched and wasted plenty of time trying to find the answer on my own. I have a 2000 1100 with ABS and need rubber. I intended to order Z6 for it but dealer says not available anymore. So I told him Z8; to which he replied he can't get the 160/70 only a 160/60. I ride 100 miles a day commuting and want to get 10k out of a set, I refuse to buy Dunlops and don't care for Bridgestones, that leaves the Euro brands. Questions; will a 60 profile work in the rear? He said the MPR2 were also only available in a 60 profile. Thoughts?

I've had a couple of sets of Avon Storm 2 Ultra on my '95 ST-1100AS (110/80-18 F, 160/170/17 R) and never got on with the dreaded head-shake giving me grief from the off. My front needed replacing so I'm now mixing a Pirelli PR3 front with the Avon on the rear. The head-shake has gone and the added confidence of the PR3 in the wet is great although now the rear feels a bit flighty in those conditions. Unfortunately there's not a rear size PR3 but the mix works for me. Has anyone else mixed a front PR3 with something else rear, and if so what's your feeling about it?

Joe, you might add the Bridgestone 023GT tires to the list. I have set on the bike now and broke them in with a 1200 mile NW Arkansas ride. They feel really good in the turns and roll thru left / right switchbacks very smoothly.

Has anyone had any experience with the Bridgestone BT023GT yet?
I should add "on the rear".
There should be a ton of people out there running this tire. I have sold what seems like a truck load. They are the best price tire out there except for the Shinkos.

I'll do that now.

I almost ordered them myself last week ($219 shipped !!), but then ordered the PR3's instead.

Two reasons for me choosing the PR3's: the BT023 rear only lasted 6k (not GT version) and the PR's are so much easier to mount by oneself.

Update - I had to junk the ST2 a couple of weeks ago. The thing went out of shape. So I've got a fairly new front PR3 and added a BT-023 rear. I wouldn't recommend this mix, it's not as stable at speed as the PR3/ST2 combination I was running.

Hi Joe,
Pirelli has a rear tire that fits; the Angel ST (170/60ZR-17). So far it's wearing pretty good for 2700 miles and sticks fine. I emailed them to ask why they did not import the front tire that you can get over in the UK (they have 17" sizes here, but not the 18) and the reply was "We do not import this Angel ST front tire due to lack of demand by the market. Thank you
for the e-mail."... I will wait to see how long this tire holds up to the Arkansas roads before I see it the front is worth a try.
Thanks, Jac

Jac, the the pirelli actually rated for the ST by them? I'm only listed the ones the manufacturer states is okay to use on the ST, not just ones in the correct size.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a ST1100 tire that is resistant to squaring off? I ride primarily highway and while some have curves, I rarely hit them at much more than 5-10mph over the recommended speed. My front is squaring off rather fast, the rear seems OK, I am running Metzler Z6. Do I just need to work on going faster through twisters . . . I know I'm a very cautious rider, mostly on curves It isn't fear of losing traction but more like a refusal to risk my life by out riding my line of sight.

I'd just like to piggyback this request. My riding is very similar to Daryl and I'm looking for one of the highest mileage tire options out there. I have a '99 ST1100.

I'm currently running a 130/70/18 Bridgestone BattleAx BT45 rear tar on front of lipSTick and the new Michelin Commander in the correct size on the rear. I'm sure neither are "recommended" for the 1100 but they sure do the job. Several folks on 1300s are also running the rear tar on front.

The Commander is advertised for cruisers but both stick to the point of foot peg dragging with no problems.

My current tires have 13,700 on the front and 9,200 on the rear and both look great, thousands to go.

Michelin sez the 160/70/17 Commander is recommended for several different models of the Harley Dyna. Here's the fitment chart. It is the only 160/70/17 I can find in their catalog. They have nothing listed for the 1100 but do have a Pilot Road for the 1300.

I can't find the recommended fitness chart for the Bridgestone, but here's the full model numbers: 130/70-18M/C 63H. It is a bias tire.

In Daytona this spring I spoke with a Metzler/Pirelli factory rep.
He recommended the Angel or the Metzler 28 Interact....FWIW

Does this mean there is only one brand & model, Dunlop 205, available for my 1996 ST 1100 ABS-TCS? Or, are does anyone know of any other options out there?

Thanks

Mellow, please add Bridgestone T30-GT in the usual sizes, which supersede the BT023.

Also in the table, add Dunlop Roadsmart II, which replaced the original RS.
