I've owned and loved my ST1300 for 2 years, but the heat issue, especially on my feet, is causing me to consider a trade. Met a guy on a ST1100 who is thinking about the 1300 and am considering suggesting a trade.

Is there agreement in the Honda ST community if the ST1100 has less heat than the 1300? Or like everything else, are there countless conflicting opinions? Heck I'd of course rather own the 2012 ST1400, but for now am considering this option.

Thanks for the thoughts, especially from those who have owned and ridden both.

Before you trade or get a new bike, try a pair of SIDI OnRoad boots.

I have a pair and they work great!

I don't recall having any heat issues when I had my 91 ST. My ST13 is hot, but I still like it. I would not want to go back to a bike without a power shield.

I put 97k on a 1100 and so far logged 62k on a 1300. The 1300 goes about 20% hotter. That doesn't phase me. I love the 1300 and it would have to get ALOT hotter to make me bolt from the fold.

I'll never own another bike without a power screen.

Although I don't have any problem with my 1300 there is no doubt it is warmer then the 1100. My 94 did get so hot on the left side of the top shelter I had to keep my leg away from it.
I wear New Balance 976 waterproof waking shoes which expose my legs to the 1300's heat and I don't have any problems at all. I could ride bare footed on the 1300 and not have a problem with the heat.
