ST1100 Avon Storm Ultra2 ( vibration )

hi..just put a set of avon storm ultra 2 tyres on my 1992 st1100.. vibes slight shake on bars at speeds 40mph to 50mph apart from that they seem fine is this the norm with these it only happens at the speed stated..im am in 2 minds to live with it or send them back..and i must admit they are quiet on the road....regards jim :biker:

Yep lots of reports of this on the 1100. I live with it.

hi..what are the psi recomended pressures for avon ultra 2 tyres cant find it anywhere..i know for bridgestones it is 38 and 42,,,but avons are a new tyre...regards jim:biker:

Never tried Avons, so can't compare experiences, but I just wonder if everyone who has experienced this has had their wheels balanced. Just a thought......

Yup...They all do it(Storms) Great tire in the rain and dry, so if you can live with the slight shake at around those speeds you will like them besides that. You can call Avon and they will send you out another tire, but that will do it too! I wish they didn't have that shake......

Mine don't.

Only ever had a very slight oscillation with a very light hold when reducing speed on very worn tyres.

I fit and balance my own tyres and I'm fussy when doing so.

I don't get any shakes either, and I have tried all variations of the Avons. Currently have Storm 2s on in the last 3000kms or so of their life (out of expected total life of 13,000kms). I don't get any shake with other brands either, regardless of how worn the tyres are. Balance is done each time the tyres are changed. I run 36 front 42 rear. For the Z6s I used 38 front as the tyres seemed to wear a bit uneven at lower pressures.
