I feel it in my wrist on longer rides . The sweep seems a little too much for me . So I end up holding on to them a little funny after a while. It's not so bad that I cant live with it . Are all ST1100 handlebar alike ? I see early ones look to be welded a little different and there is a Police model . Do any of these have less sweep than my stock 2000 model bar? Any other suggestions for bar that is pretty much the same -with a little less (backward ) sweep ?
I do have 3" rox risers now , so a straiter bar is possible to fit , without it hitting the fairing on full lock. Thanks !

I would suggest looking for a set of Helibars for your ride. You can find them used on ebay if you want to save some money. If I remember there are two models for the ST1100. An older model and a newer model that came out several years ago. They are adjustable in about everyway you can imagine. There are lots of members here who have them. I love mine.

I have the older style Helibars on both my 1100's and really like them. I also have the 2" roxy risers. I have found used sets on Ebay a good prices, you may have to wait for a set to show up.

There is a set in the "for sale" area on this forum if he still has them. They have been there a long time if still available.

Helibars probably would be the way to go .I'd love to get a hold of a pair . But they have often been quite expensive , and I don't know enough about them to take the chance. Does the" rising bar" have a fixed height/length ? What is bejng shown in the 4th photo in the add? (where bar end weights go ?) .

There are 2 styles of HeliBars. New and Old.

The Old style has 2 versions with the difference being the screw size for the bar end weights. The 2000 model should have a 6mm screw for the bar end weights. If the HeliBars you buy need an 8mm screw, remove the sleeve (#11) in the bar end weight and buy a couple of 8x65 screws (#16).

"Does the" rising bar" have a fixed height/length?"

The Old style has a variable length rising bar. If you go to picture #1 in the above "For Sale" ad link, you can see the silver color screws on the cross bar. These are for the clamps setting the rise height.

"What is being shown in the 4th photo in the add? (where bar end weights go ?)."

Yes. The 4th photo shows the screw hole for the bar end weights. I can't tell if it's a 6mm or 8mm threaded hole.

The New style has a "U" shape "rising bar" fixed height of about 9.5" from the center of the cross bar (mounting to triple tree) to the center of the hand grip bar. It should come with the extension hoses.

Hope this helps.

About 6.5". Remember, as you roll the bars toward the rider, the height is lower but the grips are closer to the rider.

For reference, here's a trio of side views of my ST with the Helibars extended to the point that the bottoms of the vertical tubes are flush with the lower clamps, and extended risers beneath:

Thanks for the photos. Do they have pre drilled holes for the brake and clutch levers or how does this work out ?

If you're talking about the HeliBars, yes it is 7/8", as the original.

I don't know about GW but the ST1100 uses 7/8" bars. Both HeliBars designs for the ST (Old and New) are 7/8" dia. bars. I have a couple sets of the Old and a New set.

It hasn't been mentioned yet but if you go with the HeliBars, you will not be able to use the plastic handle bar cover without a lot of modification.

They are off already , and longer a brake hose.
I almost made a deal on a sett of Helibars, but shipping from the US has gotten so expensive and that puts the whole thing in a price bracket where they charge taxes and fees - that doubles the price . So i've given a little up on Hellibars unless i find a sett over here. I think I'll be able to find a regular bar that does the trick. I tweeked what I have, and It's better - not bad , Just a wee little to much "back sweep".
