As for the Rostra
I paid $250 US for the box
$100 for the speed sensor
$5 for the relay
$30 for all the wiring connectors
$75 for the Gold Wing control switch
Magnets were free but $10 should do it
$5 for an arm that I made to fit on the bell crank.
I spent 5 hours modifying the Gold Wing Harness
5 hours removing the gas tank, removing the carbs and installing the cruise throttle arm that I made.
A couple of weeks reviewing every Rostra install making notes before and during.
Months troubleshooting to get it to work properly
There’s no tech desk to call to walk you through it
The McCruise is money well spent! Period!
I warned you about sticker shock
It also took time to source all the parts I needed.
Now the truth
IT’S THE BEST FARKLE FOR THE 1100 for any kind of distance riding!

And I really would like to know how, it’s just your name is Larry Fine so of course I think funny first . Although in hindsight sight I should have vetted that one first.
Hey, how did you put one on your '96 Nighthawk 750 for around $300?
The 250-1223 is often (or used to be) sold on eBay in packages with various accessories. I found one that came with the coil-and-magnets speed sensor kit, cost around $225.

I used a TrailTech 8500-RS switch pod as a controller,. The center button triggers a micro 12v relay to ground the clutch-switch wire as a cancel button. About $35 for both.

I wired the "engaged" wire to the bike's kickstand-down light through a 50-ohm resistor. It's bright enough to see in sunlight, but dim enough at night. I have resistors, so free.

I don't recall buying anything else. I guess it was less than $300. It took me a weekend to install it, and about six tries to fine-tune the DIP setting switches for smooth operation.

Amazon has the 250-1223 kit, without switches or sensors for $229. I may buy one to put on the shelf, for the next bike I buy without cruise, like the Concours I looked at last week.
