ST1300 rear trailer tiedowns

Since I ride one up and don't use the passengers pegs, I am thinking about removing the pegs. I would like to use the mounting holes where the pegs were mounted, to attach tie-down straps to hold the rear of the bike on a trailer. This idea allows me to keep the saddlebags on the bike during transit.

Is this a sound concept?

Very interesting idea.. anyone tried this? I don't see why it wouldn't work.
