It is time for me to change my brake pads, front and back. My question is are the stock Honda pads any better than the aftermarket ones? I am assuming that the aftermarket ones will be cheaper in price but I don't want a poorer quality. If aftermarket is the way to go, what are some good names to look for. I ride a 2005 with ABS
Thanks

I've tried both.. the aftermarket ones are thinner, especially the rear ones... so they won't last as long.

Some like them, some don't.. I pretty much stick with the Hondaline ones..

I tried them, had them on for one trip and took them off and went back to the Honda pads.

Yes, it's easy if you have basic skills and tools... only other thing needed is some lock tight for the holding bolt.
A few points;
1) if first time, take pictures of how it looks before disassembly
2) after pads out, put a wedge between pistons so they don't come out to far, and clean the pistons with brake fluid to get crud off (prevents damage to seals)before pushing all the way back in
3) use either a new mounting bolt ( i think hondas call ) or reuse with lock-tight and proper torque wrench

there's prob a blow by blow on the site here.
