I was at the VA Clinic a couple weeks ago and someone left a Gold Wing magazine (thank goodness!).

I read about Phil Steiner, who has racked up 1m miles (that's a million miles) on his Gold Wings.

Sorry for the photo of the article, but I didn't have my table scanner with me

Congrats to him on the million mile accomplishment!

There was another 'Winger who covered a million miles, back in 2017 - Al Zahrt. He did it on a 1st-gen GL1000 with a Windjammer fairing. As I recall, it was the original running chassis, but I think three different engines. Article from RideApart

It took him longer to do than Phil Steiner, but still... a million miles! Wowsers! Gotta hand it to both of them, that's some serious riding.

I definitely raise an eyebrow at the mention of 54,000 miles on a Dunlop E4 rear tire.

I found another article from June 2015, with maintenance stats
"A self-described loner at age 72, he rides ...".
So he's 76 nowadays.

I also found a thread at GL1800Riders from Dec 2018:
"Yesterday 12/17 was the 4th anniversary of Phil taking delivery of his 2015 Goldwing. On the first anniversary of him owning that bike he had over 100,000 miles on the odometer. He repeated that for the next two years for a total of 300,000 miles on 12/17/2017.
Phil showed up this morning for our Geezer ride so I had to ask him how many miles he currently had on his bike. Attached is the picture I took this morning prior to our 200+ mile ride.

The picture is of his odometer showing 400,000 miles

The moon is only (yeah, only!) a quarter of a million miles away, approximately. That comes out to 250,000 so he was to the moon and on his way back with those 400k. Of course he might have had a problem finding JASO MA 2 oil on the way....

Impressive...I generally only ride 4-5000 miles per year so if I live another 200 years or so, I might be able to match that. I think on all the bikes I’ve owned/ currently own, I’m up to 66,000 miles total, so way less experienced than other riders.

wow - so that video is from over a year ago (?).

80 years old and riding GWs !! And all those miles racked up on each!! I had to give mine up because it was too much weight. (admittedly, due to back injury and surgery).

Pretty amazing !

Phil just stopped into our shop in Lima, Oh yesterday (10/11/2022). He currently has 741k miles on this beautiful Goldwing, and still going strong!

Hi Brad, yeah, he told me it's guzzling about a quart of Amsoil every 1,000 miles, so not sure how far it will go, but you guys are selling him the 2022 6 speed, delivered around Thanksgiving, so we may never know how far the 2015 will go....

Youtube off.

I think my 356,000 on my ST is lame now. HAHA. But I guess someone might actually believe it if I say I have 41,627 on my front tire! It's a Battlax BT46 (rear for some other model bike) and looks like it should make 50,000 easy.

January 20th, 2023 ..Phil Steiner rode his 2015 Wing from Lakeland to Lima, Oh to pick up his 2023 Wing, and is riding it back to Lakeland. The 2015 is now parked at 767,154 miles. We may never know how many more miles it would have gone. I offered to buy it, he wants to keep it.
