Just purchased a V1 - it appears there is an audio jack on the left hand side that would allow me to plug it straight into my Autocom, but this audio port doesn't seem to allow a plug to be fully inserted into the V1.

Is this truly an audio out port? Or do I have to invest in the V1 remote audio adaptor?

IF it is an audio port make sure you use an isolated lead into the Autocom. VERY important. A friend of mine didn't do that and the Autcom port is not compatible without isolation and it fried his Escort 9500ix. I don't recall if it was that the Autcom port (port one does have power) sent power via the audio port into the Escort or if it was a ground loop overdiriving the amp...either way it fried his detector. I confirmed with Autocom that the isloated lead was absolutely necessary when I installed mine.

Granted, the V1 may be different, but I would absolutely check with Autocom...and yes, I have anothe buddy who had his V1 going into his Autocom same as I have my Escort...I just don't know if the plug you mention is how it's done.

E-mailed V1 and it is NOT a 2.5 audio out jack like I thought - it is just a hole by which the sound comes out of the unit when you are just running it alone. Doesn't really look like a "speaker," but that is all it is.

Which means one does have to purchase the $50 remote audio device that V1 sells in order to then hook it into the Autocom. That device has audio out ports that will allow you to cable from the remote audio device to the Autocom.

Thx for the reminder on the isolated lead cord needed....
