I have been wanting to pull the trigger on a Valentine One. Looking on Ebay and thinking that would be the best price $450 or so plus shipping. I just looked on the V1 web site itself and it is $399.
Is the V1 site the best price or does someone have a better price?

Valentine has pretty good control over the retailing of the V1. You rarely see it for sale anywhere else for less money than Valentine.

Yeah, Valentine has no dealers, everthing has to be bought directly from them or on the used market. Not much opportunity to price shop on those units.

+1 on buying direct. Got mine last month, it was the best price I could find for a new unit.

I have had a V1 for about three yers now - It has been trouble free and paid for itself many times - The nice thing is that you can send it in and have it updated for life. Costs a bit for an upgrade but a lot cheaper than buying a new one. I also like the fact it shows you the direction of the radar source - I find that pretty handy.

Has anyone else noticed how many things are being price controlled by the manufacturers? I first noticed it with Apple products, but now it seems like everyone is "price fixing". Try to find a published price on Tourmaster or any of several other items we look for, that is lower than what the manufacturer will sell it for. Free trade has gone by the wayside while we weren't paying attention.

"If you are going to sell my products.......I will tell you what you are allowed to sell them for".

I have been driving/riding with radar detectors since I was 20. V1 is the best one out there!!! Once you get use to the arrows, you will not want anything else. Well worth the money!! Buy direct! they do not have any distributors.

I searched for jackets online, lowest cost was always the same. Heated gloves, $152.99 was the lowest at any of 50 outlets and on FleaBay. Buy anything with Apple or Powerlet on it for a discounted price. Need we bring up Zumos?

I also have a blue light wired into the power cord of my Escort so the blue light is in my line of sight,
Why don't you just wire the sound into your helmet? That's what I do for my V1, this way you don't have to worry about seeing the light.

This thread is very timely for me as I have been thinking of a Valentine since the law enforcement community is directed to retrieve our revenue. I imagine it would pay for itself in the long run. I have never used a detector before. I guess they are much more reliable than they used to be, is that correct? ie: fewer false alarms? Mark-

You get plenty of false alarms but after you have it for a while you get used to it and start to understand what types of alarms to be concerned about. Traffic Light sensors and automatic door openers set off mine but you can tell pretty easy what is causing the alarms- - I have a remote visible alert for mine and it works great - I don't think I would like to have it wired into my hemet speakers and have to hear the thing beeping in my ear when I am at a traffic light.

The V1 has three "sensitivity" settings. I put that in quotes, because it doesn't really reduce the sensitivity of the device, it applies logic to what it receives. I set mine to the middle setting, which eliminates almost all false alarms from door openers and the like without compromising sensitivity on the bands that police use for speed enforcement.

And with the directional arrows, you're quickly able to ignore many of the alerts. If you're on the highway, and the arrows point to a signal off to the side, you can pretty much ignore it. I've had Escorts and V1s, and currently own 2 V1s. Some of the new Escorts have cool features (like GPS receivers that let you program out known false alerts), but the arrows on the V1 are something I'm unwilling to give up.

Do you use it in VA or keep it off. IOW are they bullet proof with the radar detector detectors?

One will also have to purchase the adapter for the v-1 that allows it to have a audio out so you can hear it go off in your ear, this pricey little adapter is prone to get mucked up by rain, some have had to replace it a number of times. I prefer the Escort 8500 (red screen) for 250 to 300.00 already has a headset output, they both do a great job of detecting radar and laser. Kieth (i do not sell either one.---I use a escort for the above reasons.....

I mounted mine under my dash shelf, so far I have not had a problem with it. I do agree that is is pricey. Sometimes you have to pay to get the best!
