Darn, forgot to get the photo for last Friday. Was 104 on the ride home and around 90% humidity, but the real killer was the dewpoint at 80. Per our weatherman that's classed as unbearable. Heat index over 120. That was only the second highest I've ridden home in.
You ask Why anyone would ride in that kind of heat?
Why would anyone ride at -15 or -17*F? Because it's still riding. Besides, I do like the heat better than the cold but have been at both ends here in Iowa.
More northern states would do better for coldest ride if the snow stays away. Southern states, especially the SW, would do better for hottest ride. But Iowa seems to able to compete, even if only be in the running, at both ends of the thermometer. Sometimes hot dry, sometimes hot humid, sometimes just plain frigid cold too. OK, I know we don't usually get warmer than 105 very often, but we have had temps up to 118 at least once.
