Hi Dave. The type of preload adjuster oil isn't a mission critical decision. I believe any fork oil or hydraulic jack oil would do just fine. This type of Showa preload adjuster is used on several different brands of motorcycles and these types of fluids are commonly used with good results in several brand or model specific forums.@Willsmotorcycle Thanks for the link. Finding the purpose of the hole led to an hour and a half of preload and rebound research on here that included that video and another on filling the preload system. Turns out that has been added to my todo list as soon as I get some 10w shock oil.
There you go. I used ATF in the forks of my old BMW and it did work good.I re-filled mine with some left over ATF I had. Works fine.
