Anyone ever run a Dunlop K701?

Hello, A friend just unloaded all of his bikes and while cleaning out the garage he found a 1 year old new never mounted Dunlop K-701. Since the size matched the ST he gave it to me. I never like mismatching tires but my inner tightwad has me considering using this hoop. Anyone ever run one of these?

Regardless, I will need a new set of tires soon and have been happy with my Bt 020's. My dealer is pushing the PR-2's hard and the price is a push. I will check two bro's before buying but was wondering if anyone thought the upcoming PR-3's are worth waiting on?

Thanks, Glenn

True, after the road smart fiasco I am probably not a dunlop customer. Funny thing, my local shop pushed those really hard on me last fall. Luckily I found the dirt on the road smarts here.

No one is cheaper than me when it comes to tars. Check the sidewall for load rating, if it's appropriate and the correct size, run it 'til it's bald. Dunlop has had a lot of bad press lately but they've been in the tar bidness for a long time.

The K701 (front) and K700 (rear) are OEM for the early Kaw Concourse.

After WeStoc last year I needed a front tire and bought one of those to get me to Spring (got a really good price) and it's wearing very well. It is a Concours spec tire and the Connie is a heavy bike as well. Go for it! It sticks pretty good IMHO. Cheers Marty

Thanks for the feedback. If the loads are the same I will keep as a back-up. Sadly most of my miles right now are straight line commuting.

The PR2s I like a lot. I'll give the PR3s a try when they come out and I'm done with my current set.

Let me know when you're ready and have them shipped to my place in Carrollton and we'll change them out for you. I'm doing a set for someone here after we help roseknight with his valve check this saturday.

I have not run the K701, but have run the RoadSmarts. The RS is a good tire (great performance and life) except for the bulge/blistering problems. I ran them till bald with no problems.

PR2 is excellent but pricey as already stated. Avon Storm2 seem to be well liked and I would try these now that the de-lamination issue is supposed to be resolved.

I am current running BT023 F&R, nice feel and good price. Life is perhaps not quite what the BT020 was but seems like reports vary a little.

However my next set will be the Shinko Verge 011's. These are the new version of the Ravens and are reported to have good performance and life for a bargain basement price.

120/70ZR18 Front, and 170/60ZR17 Rear, or is this for a 16" GW rim? Maybe the 757 or 777 tires instead?

This is a front purchased for a 2005 connie, the same size as my ST1300. I need to check the load/speed rating but I will most likely retain it as a back-up.
