Helmets Bell Revolver helmet.

Well I ordered helmets for the wife and kids. Real happy with the fit and everything for the price. I installed the Scala Q2 and it fit. Did have to add foam inside for the speakers to move them closer to their ears. I was happy with the helmet and was debating whether to order one for me or order the Scorpion EVO900, after reading reviews on all and figuring the price difference (even though much cheaper at Two brothers) I went ahead and ordered a Bell Revolver for me too. At $99.00 I think it is a good deal, it seems to be about the same quality if not better than the Vega I have been using. So once I have it and wear it on the bike I post a review but from the appearance of the wife and kids I think it will be equal if not better than the one I have been using.

Well, if $99 is all your head is worth then wear a $99 helmet :D

I would never wear a cheap helmet and especially not a Bell.

I just ordered a Revolver, should be here Friday. I have had Bell helmets for years, even survived a left turn Larry crash in 87 with a full face. The only injury to my head was a slight bruise on my upper left lip, the rest of me not so lucky (6 months off work). I was sold on Bell then! I will update when I get it.

Care to elaborate?

Research the history of the company and it's products and you will see for yourself. They once had a great reputation and were known as being among the best. They have gone down the tubes both as a company and in the products they sell. As I said I would not buy a bicycle helmet for a 6 year old from Bell.

Their helmets are a very small step up from the stuff from third world countries you see being sold at flea markets.

Actaully my head is worth about $1 million dollars, well after the life insurance pays out (LOL) but I used to ride bulls back before helmets and vests. I ride atgatt most of the time but I guess more correct would be atgmott (all the gear most of the time)(LOL). I sometimes ride in shorts and t-shirt with no helmet at all and I never wear a helmet when I ride my horse. Growing up we rode bicycles and motorcycles without helmets and made jumps out of concrete blocks scrap wood. I even roller skated and skateboarded without safety gear. I guess the brain damage causes me to believe that a $99 helmet is acceptable.:D

History - they used to spend (waste?) lots of money sponsoring race teams and now they don't?
I've checked out the products they have for sale now, and they seem to be good quality products. So I was hoping you had some specific information about what made them "not a good quality helmet". To me they seem well made and INEXPENSIVE (not cheap) IMO.

It had nothing to do with spending or wasting money sponsoring race teams. Most race teams will accept money etc., from sponsors. Where they will not compromise is in the physical safety of their competitors. That means no substandard safety gear like poor quality helmets, sponsor or not. Most racers teams in competitive motorsports would now say no to an offer of Bell sponsorship.

We live in a world where just because it looks good, does not mean it is.

I got mine for $79 so I have a $79 head . Worth more than I thought .

The helmet is DOT certified .

Have you done any testing on it that would indicate it is not as good as a $600 helmet ?
Maybe it is a bit heavier, or a bit louder, but there is nothing to indicate it is not as safe.
