Okay, I love my Multitec, except when I'm riding in the rain! Like tonight!

For those of you that do a lot of riding in the :rain1:, what are you finding best keeps the wet stuff out, but allows circulation so things don't fog up where you have to open the faceshield a notch?

I'm very tempted to have a helmet around for days like today! :o4:
 
Crack open the visor and close the upper vent. On my St I did a windshield mod, 1/2 inch spacer in the bottom and 1/4 inch spacer at the top bracket and with the electric adjustment the draft is downward so clean visor without water.
 
I like HJC so I have a FS-15 and a RPS-10 with a pinlock shield insert. Pinlock shields work great so get a helmet brand you like that offers the pinlock option, keep your face shield locked down tight, see where you're going and ride safe.
 
Every new Shoei I've bought has come with a breath deflector. It's probably in that package of stuff that came with your helmet, up there in the box on your shelf. :D

It's as good as anything for keeping your visor clear while keeping the shield closed...
 
If a full face helmet isn't out of the question, I've had great luck with a Bell Star with the light sensitive visor. I also have Arai, Shoei, and Nolan helmets, but I always seem to grab the Bell especially if the weather might be dicey. Don't know how bad your weather was, but with the visor closed I've never had an issue with leaks or fogging.

Have you tried to adjust your shield. I adjusted my shield on my X-12 helmet when I got it and have never had an issue with leaks in the rain and I have ridden in some pretty heavy rain.

It takes a screwdriver to loosen and adjust the mounts. There is a video that Shoei made on youtube.

I agree that pinlock shield are great.

Yep, I tried that and after talking to a Shoei Rep at the Motorcycle show, he told me to drill holes in an old shield so you can get to the screws to make the adjustments. Push on the shield and then tighten them down. Still no dice, it's not tight enough. So I just might see about picking up a full faced helmet for foul weather commuting.

My Multitec was the same way. No leaks and a Pinlock solved any fogging problems. The shield on a Multitec can be adjusted to fit tightly against the gasket to seal it but you probably know that already.
 
NOT the Scorpion 700 or 1000 series....




(Don't have a good recommendation but can tell you to stay away from these!!!)
 
I've had four rainy day commutes in the last two weeks, and My Scorpion EXO900 has been dry and fog free.
 
Pin-loc shields are the best for fogging on a rainy commute. Or there is the old hockey face shield trick by rubbing in some liquid soap(with a soft cloth) to the inside, just a couple drops rubbed gently until dry on the inside. Rain-X on the outside. PS never use the soap trick on a pin-loc as the insert is a very soft plastic and will be damaged. Or learn to hold your breath at idle..
 
Do a search for a snowmobile helmet. You mentioned that you would be open to having a rain season helmet. They come with double lens visors and much more control of the air flow across the lens. Add a breath shield and you'll be happy. I have a modular HJC that I just love to wear in the rain, snow or nasty weather. I found that the breath shield isn't really needed and gets left at home or rattling around in a side case.

I need to try this on my Arai, the same type of adjustment, just harder to set. Anyone have a corsair shield they don't need?
