New Harleys are water cooling the heads. The 1200 V4 has the rear cylinder bank connecting rods inside of the front bank. 1 &3 are inside of 2 & 4 so that engine would be kind of hard to package like the ST1100 & ST1300's longitudinal layout. Are you talking about HD or BMW? The new R1200 motor is a completely new engine, with integrated gearbox, new heads, TBs on top, exhaust out the bottom, wet clutch etc. etc.
I'm not understanding your point. Why would you want to? The VFR engine would have to be completely redesigned because the integrated gearbox output is on the wrong side.
Looks like it will only be on selected touring models like the Ultra. The radiators will be in the leg fairings.New Harleys are water cooling the heads.
Have you seen the purpose-built, air-cooled 2013 CB1100?...At the very least, you have to accept the idea that Honda will never build another one-off bike (meaning an engine that is only used in one model) like the ST13. Those days are gone.
Well, yeah. HD is hide bound and constrained by tradition and the first water cooled real HDs are ones that can best hide the radiators. (Not counting the V-rod. Everyone knows those aren't "real motorcycles" anyway.) More water heads are coming to the faithful however.Looks like it will only be on selected touring models like the Ultra. I wonder if it has more to do with rider comfort than with emissions standards??Well, yeah. That's precisely what I heard, or didn't. Thanks to the Golden Contingent for helping clear everything up. :yes:I'm pretty sure the non announcement was already made. But Honda is secretive, so they still may not announce, again. We just have to wait for that.
;-)
It's going to piss me off if Honda comes out with a new, real sport tourer after I bought the Triumph. I just got tired of waiting on Honda .That's precisely what I heard, or didn't. Thanks to the Golden Contingent for helping clear everything up.
The VFR1200F is the platform the CrossTourer is built off of. Honda originally said before the F model was released that three motorcycles would spring from the platform. We have seen two.I think modified crosstourer is more likely to make an ST1300 replacement than a vfr1200f.
You're welcome. Don't forget who you didn't hear it from first. That's precisely what I heard, or didn't. Thanks to the Golden Contingent for helping clear everything up.
