I was at J.P. Cycles in Daytona looking around there huge store and in the Gold Wing section I see the plastic push pins that we always seem to need. I got 2 boxes of 10, one short and one long for $7 each. Much better then $3 each from Honda.
J.P. Cycle Part #ZZ76373 and #ZZ76374
They were packed in a Show Chrome package so I checked that site. They also have the small pins. They were about $.75 cheeper then J.P. Cycle
Show Chrome Part #BBP-3-106, #BBP-3-104, #BBP-3-112

Those long ones,.. would they fit the maintenance entries with fairing extenders? I'm using some that aren't exactly right.

For the maintenance covers and wind deflectors, I use a 6x20mm SS hex head bolt and a 1/4 x 20 clip washer. Works much more secure than a rivet.

I saw that in another thread. What Suzuki motorcycle did you get the 6x20mm SS hex head from? I saw the clip washer came from the rear tail section of the ST.

Autozone also has nylon rivets in stock that work quite well.. Some are push pin style and some are "threaded" so you push them in 1/2 way and then tighten them down with a small screw driver.. If I remember correctly for around 4$ a box

You can also find these at Cyclemax.com in Valley City, OH. Look in the GL1800 maintenance section. I have bought several things from them in the past, good supplier.

I will surely be checking this out. I've been so hesitant to pay Honda prices for those pins that I've let my set go far too long. I need to do something, but I'm a cheapskate.

Incidentally, are the ST pins ?" holes?

Thanks for your post, I lost the push pins for the little cover over where you put the oil and check coolant. Would you have a number for those Thanks so much Bob

Looking up the part number on ebay can sometimes yield good results. I bought 50 for less than £10 a good while back, and they have been very reliable. There are two main types of the larger pins on the fairing, one with slightly longer heads. But as far as I can tell, the rest of the pin is the same size. On the inner fairing (the grey triangular (ish) bit that fits up alongside the wheel, they use both types. The longer headed ones go into the recessed holes, so that you can get them out again, but the short headed ones work OK as well.

In this article (download the pdf) I listed all of the bolts and fasteners with their numbers and photos for comparison - it if is of any help to anyone else.
