I was wanting to get some feedback before I dropped the money.
I am long legged and have a short torso and average length arms.. My concern is raising the bars too much but
I need the set back to keep from being hunched forward too much.
Any recommendations ?
Thanks.

That's an easy one, Heli............I couldn't stand the forward lean with OEM bar clamp and the Heli riser was one of my first installed farkles on my first ST & it was THE 1st thing I installed on my now second ST. Now you just need to decide which one is right for your application. Mine was with the RAM mount for my Zumo to be installed, works GREAT

The Gen 3.2 Helibars will probably work great for you. They raise the bars 2" and bring them back 2.5". I've had them on two bikes and they are really comfortable and make a huge difference after an hour or more on the road.

You can get the riser in three styles: 1) the riser alone 2) the riser with RAM ball mount 3) the riser with RAM ball mount and Powerlet outlet.

The riser has relieved my sore wrists shoulders and lower back from pain. It's the farkle I've added to both bikes and probably the most significant and bang for the buck.

Okay- I did it. I ordered the gen 3.2 Helibar risers. I'll report back with a review after I get them installed and have ridden with them on.
Thanks for the input.

Couple of quick questions...

1). Physiologically speaking, do heli-bars help shorter people or taller folks? It seems like it works for the former group b/c a short person has shorter arms and and the pull back brings the bars closer. But, a taller person's shoulders are further away and therefore even their longer arms have to stretch to reach the bars, making the heli-bars ideal for them. Are heli-bars for both types?

2) I have a "tour performance" plate with a ram ball attached. Can I use it in conjunction with heli-bars or do I need to purchase one with the ball attached? Thanks, and I hope this isn't construed as a hi-jack.

1) Shorter people definitely have more to gain than most taller riders. Aside from personal preference it would be hard to say how tall is too tall to be comfortable with any risers. There are probably a few tall riders who like the shorter reach.

2) I'm not familiar with the Tour Performance plate. I think the newer Helibar risers use a 3/8" threaded RAM ball and the older models use 1/4" threaded RAM ball. You'd have to know the size of the TP version.

Just to muddy the waters..... I'm short, 5' 6" with a 29" inseam. I wear shirts with 32/33" sleeves. The ST fits me like a glove. I've always liked the stock set up and never thought to change the bar height or reach.

I believe the Tour Performance riser is the earlier version of the Helibar 3.2. I just upgraded from the Tour Performance plate to the 3.2. One of the unmentioned pluses is that it's easier to access the ignition with the 3.2.

Tour Performance is the style of Heli Bar riser. ie. it is the brandname on the plate made by Heli-Bar.

Thanks T_C and AB. I saw that one was called the Pilot but didn't notice any other names.

Ok, so if I have a plate on my triple tree that says "tour performance" it is a riser block? I thought it was just a plate that had a ram ball attached. I well look closer and maybe post a pic...

Go to this link: https://www.helibars.com/product/match/774 and look at the first and third pics. These are the Gen3 risers. The second/middle pic is the riser with the Powerlet socket and RAM ball mount attached. From the site it doesn't look like you can mount that Powerlet/RAM plate without the riser. So I'm guessing you have the riser. You should be able to see the difference in the finish between the handlebars and the triple tree. My riser is several months old and doesn't have "Tour Performance" marked on it that I noticed. I'll have to check closely.

You have an earlier Helibar riser. The plate with the ball on it won't mount to the factory steel plate. I have both in front of me now.

Thank you for the reply and pics. My longest ride (25 miles) left my palms hurting/numb a tiny bit...when I had this issue on my bicycle, a taller stem (riser) fixed it. Apparently the bars are a bit low for me, so when I lean over I am putting too much weight on my hands.

My next solution is to get some decent grips. I love my kuryakyn iso-grips on other bike, do I may try to get some of those. I am holding back because I would like them heated too, but haven't had luck finding thick, cushioned, heated grips.

The 3.2 Helibar moves the bars a little further back and an inch higher than the one I posted the picture of. Some of that extra movement is taken back by changing (increasing) the angle between the handles, which is nice and overall the 3.2 does lessen the reach noticeably for me. I haven't made a long ride since installing the 3.2, so I'm looking forward to this stoopid cold snap going away so I can. It never got out of the teens today and it'll be 7F tomorrow; I live in NC for crying out loud. BTW, I have grip puppies on Oxford heated grips that work great. This is going to sound odd, but I have pretty big palms and shorter fingers, so standard grips cramp my hands something awful. The puppies work great.

I'm running the Motorcycle Larry two-piece risers. They move the bars up 1" and back 3/4". The Gen.III one-piece risers move the bars up 1 1/2' and back 2". The one piece risers now come with a Powerlet installed, and a hole tapped for a RAM ball.

At the MCL site are they now angling the bars forward???????? I thought all these years they angled them back. Also almost $200?!! Yikes.

How do you get forward out of "up and back" and "rearward"? I don't seen any mention of forward in your link. Given the longevity of the STs $200 isn't much to relieve shoulder back and wrist pain.

With you on that one. 5ft 6 and 29 inside leg bars on the original set up are fine
