I have read the all threads and have been trying to find out what whether Delkevic exhaust cans need to be repacked periodically. I ran Two Bros on my Duc and they tend to get louder over time unless the packing material is changed periodically. I posed this question to the manufacturer and they were non-comittal on the issue. Does anyone have long-term experience with these cans? Or know what's inside (baffles/packing material)?

I have had mine for about 27k miles. They sound fine still - I have the internal extra silencers install though. Been wondering about the re-packing issue. You would have to drill out the fasteners. I think i will just leave mine until I see a problem.

A great and wise man once said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

please explain the extra internal silencer. I put my pipes back on, They're a little to loud.....

Most Del' models have what is referred to as a "baffle",, which is removable for those wishing to increase exhaust flow and sound levels a little. A week ago,,, one of mine vibrated loose,, and was lost. I have 18" oval stainless Del's. So I just removed the other one,,, to try out that setup. My wife (who does not use earplugs) does not notice any difference. But I,,, who am a bit more fussy (and do wear plugs) and so can tell. I don't really like the tone of the Del's below 3000rpm,,, and am actually a fan of quiet power. But I tend to keep my rev's up,,, and that is where the Del's shine in both the sound and the smoother power department.

I have ordered the new extra length baffles, to replace my half lost set,,,, and they should be here in a week or so. They are advertised to be 1-3db quieter than the original shorter ones. Note,,, they are not really baffles,,, but a kind of bullet nose deflector that pushes the power/exhaust pulse deeper into the muffler packing,,, instead of allowing it to flow directly out the end port. But it does produce a similar result to a traditional ported baffle. Cat'

There a lots of you-tube's showing how to repack. I read once from a guy who repacked his,,, thinking it was a good idea. And for what ever reason,,, he said it made no difference,, good or bad. Cat'

Thanks guys,
I didn't think the pay out would be worth it. They actually sound SWEET.
I'll get used to them.
They seem loud in my neighborhood early mornings and late at night.
Oh well,
they do sound sweet especially for the money
Ride on everyone!!!
