What do you think of the PSR highway blades?

Well only going by the picture they don't stick out farther than the rear of the tip over cover but they are certainly sticking out farter than the front.

That shouldn't matter. Whatever sticks out the furthest is going to be the first to touch when leaned over, in this case the rear of the tip over bar. Unless it's mounted much lower like the foot pegs.

Looking at the pics again it looks like the PSR blade sticks out a hair farther than the tip over bar.

Find a piece of thin wood or stiff cardboard wide enough to touch both tires and long enough to reach from the ground to above the tip-over bars. Push the long edge against both tires' contact patches and then tilt it upwards until it touches something. That's your first road contact point. You'd need someone to hold the bike upright to test the kickstand side.

Much easier to bring the road (floor) to the bike than vice versa. Why didn't I think of that?

For a tenth of the cost you can get creative. These work just fine. I was actually thinking of making/selling these.236889236890
See what you mean for mounting those. I have a set of them and will try and put them on tomorrow and ride without the covers and see how I like them. Way better than $279 bucks for a set of blades.... Pricey? I guess!

The first thing that touches for me when cornering hard is the toe of my boot.

That really shouldn't happen if you're riding with the balls of your feet on the pegs and not your instep.

Keep in mind they will be too close to the frame to be of any good. That is why I cut some square steel tubing and used a 3 1/2 inch bolt thru it to extend them outward.

I have a set of MCL hi-way blades on my 2007 ST1300. I was excited to get them (likely just before MCL crashed and burned) because I thought that they would give me an alternative leg position which would be helpful (I have a badly arthritic right knee - or at least I did have until it was replaced with a new titanium unit in Jan. 2019). Unfortunately, I have found that the blades somehow simply do not work for me and the width of the ST1300 fairing means that my legs are splayed so far outwards that my hips hurt. As a result, I have virtually never used them in 3+ years of riding long distances.

Anyhow, with my new knee, I am now the $600 MAN - and so I will try the blades again once my bike is back from its front-end work (fork seals and steering head bearings).

However, if they are not markedly more comfortable than before, I probably will sell them to someone who could use them.

That was exactly my result with the MCL blades. The PSRs do not seem to do that, perhaps due to greater length and more curve at the free end? I have only done a few short runs on them but noticed they were more comfortable for me than the MCLs.

I have had the 1st gen MCL blades on my 04 since 09 and I can't imagine NOT having them. Especially for any type of long distance interstate riding. Just my opinion here but highway blades or pegs are made for that...highway. Not twisties. I have had mine deployed while on back country roads getting to the twisties but when you get to the fun stuff I simply pull them back in with my toes. I have forgotten a few times and when I'm ripping through the twisties I have dragged them but then I come out of the turn slow down and pull them back in.

like Skipcurt, I have MCL's, (2nd gen) and would hate to be without them. I don't ever have my feet on them for long just need the ability to stretch-out from time to time.
They are tucked in way more than out so the aesthetics closed up are important to me.
Some people don't care much about form/only function, but with the MCL's & PSR's you get both.

Would it be too much trouble to post some pics of how you have the highway pegs attached to the frame? I tried mine yesterday and the clamp I have won't tighten down.. I agree with setting them out further..... Here are the pegs I have.

If they are the same ones I have, I thinned down those "washers" so the clamp could compress more. May have even removed them, I don't remember right now. And do yours have what amounts to 2 clamps? A smaller one inside the larger one? I'll get a pic when I get home today.

Thanks! No, mine just have a single clamp. Most likely they had both clamps when they were new, but I removed them from the crash bar on my Virago. The crash bar is larger than the bar on the ST.

OK so it looks like I used just the inner clamp, which you seem to be missing. Oh and on this side of the bike I lost the set screw so what you see is a bolt with the head broken off. Here's a couple of pics...238366238367

Thanks for the pic's. I have a friend in CA that is selling his "07 and he has a set of MCL Blades that he is going to take off and ship to me in exchange for my stock covers, so I am going to try them first. If they don't work out, I will make someone a real deal on the MCL's and try your method. Thanks again.

If the MCL's don't work for you please put me first in line. I'm curious about them. If I didn't like them I'd pass them along also.
