Hey guys,

Looking for some advice on paint codes etc... so I can do a potential respray.

Has anyone found any truly magical colors for these old steeds? I really dig black, but I’m torn about changing it from the gold flake Honda red.
Any advice or ideas are appreciated : D

I’m gonna refresh all the trim while I’m at it which I should be able to fix with some dark grey model paint lol.

Anyways.... open discussion 321 go : )

I would stay with the red as from the factory. It won't take much to upgrade the paint. Honda's choice was pretty poor. Sun bleaches it out to a pinkish color.

Yeah mine is starting to do that now that it’s in the California sun, it’s definitely dulled out a bit.

If you are considering changing the color, you could visit an auto body supply shop and look through their paint chip books. One near me has books for all manufacturers and models of cars going back to ancient times - or at least they did some years back - it is probably digitized by now. Look at colors until you find one you love or your head spins (the latter is what happens when I go thru these). Auto body paint has changed over the years - most is clear coated now, it much more durable than paints of yore and the catalysts are more toxic.

GreenZR painted his 1100 a couple of years ago. You might PM him for details. He also did a THREAD describing the work. You can read my link as well as search for his other posts.

It is not like these bikes are collectibles so I am not sure it color really matters, unless you are a purest. The new auto paints that are on the market are far superior to to the old Honda paint and hold up much better. I always thought that the 25th anniversary of the VFR800 was a great look.

Aha! That’s Robert Fowler’s “Wolfman’s Glory” ST1100. I rode with him at FallSTOC ‘01. Quite a fellow... didn’t have a left hand, managed two-up very well with a prosthesis.

I vote for Sparkling Silver Metallic. SEM 15303 Graphite is a perfect match for the grey bits.
