Alternative Top Box Mounting Plate to Givi E190 Monokey

Hi all,

New here and new to the ST1100 so excuse my ignorance.

I'm off to new zealand for a couple of years and secured a '98 ST1100 Pan for primary transport.

No top box with it, so want to get one installed, recommended is the ST1110 specific Givi E-190 Monokey mounting plate for the big cases, however, the seller says that NZ is dry on them and it could be 3-4 months to get one!

Has anyone used another monokey mounting plate that works for the ST1100? It needs to be monokey as I need something that can store 45Ltrs+

I could get one here in the UK prior to my travels but I haven't inspected the bike yet so really, want to get one out there.

Here's a rack that works with Monokey. You will need to replace the 2 padded passenger handles of the ST with this unit's metal handles/framework.

I'd think you could put a flat plate and use longer bolts into the 4 stock holes. Then just attach the generic Givi baseplate (monokey or monolock) to that by drilling a few holes as needed and bolting it onto the plate.

Yes I think some custom work could be necessary if I can't find something bike specific. Thanks for the handy input.

I made a mounting plate for my ST1100 from HDPE. It is easy to work (like wood) and should stand up to weather. I made it so I can swap either my Givi monokey or Yamaha top box. To use the Givi, I have to install 2 stand-off bolts (slide into slots) and the wedge-shaped "striker" at the rear.

Here’s a photo of what I use on my 1100. It’s 1/4 inch aluminum that bolts on using grab handle bolts. Lots of holes for bungees, cargo net and mounting anything else.

I've seen similar done with nylon cutting boards (the thicker ones vs the thin ones.)
