Where did you ride today?

No pictures, but got the ole mighty ST1300 out for about 170 miles of southwestern Ohio and southeastern Indiana. Temps ranged from 41 to 50*. Not a bad shake down run after some winter maintenance. Now, time to order another rear tire.

Here we go again. Another snow storm headed this way for all day Tuesday.

BUT! Today was great. Mostly sunny and relatively balmy. Was involved with doing up income taxes and my wife says "why don't you put that down for later and go for a ride?" so I did.
Personally I think she really just wanted me to stop getting excited about the extra gas money we were going to be getting back from the government this time.
Checked tires as I usually do every ride during this time of year. My tires are holding air really well. Had the right psi for when it was much cooler (last ride) and had to let out about 3 psi per tire due to how warm it was.
I rode 65 miles this afternoon and the temps hovered around 60F all the way around. Was surprised to see only a few other motorcycles on the road today. I was taking mostly roads commonly traveled by other bikers during the season. I guess certain riders of really noisy but shiny V-Twins didn't want to pull their steeds out of storage just for a nice ride on a nice day. As it was I did come close to visiting the old homestead of The Duke.

Rode on out past Globe to the Apache Gold Casino.
Had a bite to eat; no gambling.
Returned on Hwy 60.
Always nice to leave the valley in the rear view mirrors.

Every time you eat at a restaurant (especially buffets) you are sort of gambling..

Rode to the Winter Ontario ST RTE, as the weather was great; sun and 39, very enjoyable winter ride in spring like conditions.

James invited me on a second ride. We headed over to Monroe and rode over Ben Howard Road. For those not in the area, it is a motorcyclists' dream road. Hills and dips, twists and turns. And the unexpected mud on the road from the rain washing out the side roads. It's always wonderful, but you can't be day-dreaming on it when the conditions are like this. But still nice.

From there we headed east on US2 to Reiter Road. I've skipped it in the past. I think it is delightful and on my list of local roads to explore and enjoy. If you follow it long enough, it comes into the back of a town called Index. From there, we headed east on US2 to Skykomish, where we relaxed in some unexpected sun and looked out over the river.

This was our turn-around point in Skykomish. I didn't need it, but I went inside and bought a cup of coffee to help them out. And to thank them for what they had done a couple months back. We got some unusual weather and Stevens Pass was closed for days. The owner drove out to his place to check if the power was out and if everything was okay and found his parking lot full of stranded motorists. He opened the place up so people could get warm and fed them sandwiches and whatever else he could find. He did a really good thing.

Went to a RTE at Scooters in Anamosa, Iowa. Took the long way home. Russ.

Also rode to Scooters in Anamosa, IA. 320 miles round trip. HeatDemon heat controller worked great kept my hands warm though I really should have worn my older warmer boots rather than my AlpineStars Air Plus v2.0 boots. The A* boots work fine for short trips around the home base but over the course of 2 1/2 hours the warmer boots would have been... warmer. Not that my feet were cold, just not as warm as they could have been. Temps started out around 27F and the warmed up throughout the trip eventually getting to just over 50F by the time I arrived back home. New TM Pivot Jacket also worked really well. Was a really nice day to ride and enjoyed trip.

Edit: Just filled the tank after returning from this trip, finally. Calculated the mileage at about 51 mpg on this trip. The mpg meter on the display is usually way off and this time was no exception since it was showing just over 40 mpg last I looked during the trip. I usually don't display the mpg for that reason and set it to show ambient temp instead (that's the selection for that particular part of the LED display).

I was busy with my grandsons today so no riding for me. If you click on my name and then adjustments you can change the dates. It was another nice day and I wish that I was out there.

Another really nice day in the mid 50s F and sunny. Needed to make a run to the grocery store just 2 miles down the road so tacked on a total of 43 miles going there and back

Will be busy watching the grandkids Thursday and Friday so no riding then.
