I’m having to start the thread with my phone so it’ll be a bit bare at first till I get over to the PC to edit.

For 2021 issur says we have to start riding with cameras for accident coverage. Ok no big deal I jumped on Google to check out my options and found decent reviews for the Innovv K2. It's $338 on Amazon and with free shipping it was delivered next day. Unfortunately no one carries it in stock. I'm riding a 09-PA with a cargo compartment in lieu of the passenger seat. I attached the front camera to the front right strobe and the rear camera to the underside of the back deck. I tucked the cords in behind the fairings and put the GPS on the center of the dash. With the electronics in the back it had signal interference. On the dash the cord is plenty long enough to reach the DVR. The DVR is inside the bike above the battery and behind the seat. I'm pleased with the amount of slack in the cords so there's no fear of coming up short. The nice thing about the K2 is the app lets me copy over video clips instead of having to pull the covers to get to the MiniSD card in the DVR.
Unfortunately I couldn't take it out to play since the sun set while I was working but from riding around the neighborhood it seems to see well in the dark.
DVR was set to MP4, 1080p, and 10 minute loops.

OK, neat toy, but lemme get this straight: Your insurance company is requiring you to have a camera for coverage in event of a collision?

Yeah WTW. That would be incentive for me to get a bike cam which is a good idea anyway. It would also be incentive for me to get a new carrier.

Me: Hi. I got my moto-cam mounted an operational. Do I get insurance now?
Carrier: Yes. Now let's talk about plans.
Me: Nah don't go to any trouble. I'm dropping you. See ya.

So it probably wouldn't make any difference to them but I'd feel better. That would be enough to make me get a Twitter account just to see if I could start a downhill snowball of public shaming. Well unless they require cars and trucks to add them and aren't singling out bikes. As if.

Business insurance says so because we’re an escort. A $300 camera just saved my premium roughly 12 grand. The truckers are having to get cameras too (more of a DOT thing) but if I’ve got video and not at fault my insurance can go full tilt after the other driver. Embrace the 2021 Suck.

My bullet cameras are getting past their best. I had 4 and they are gradually beginning to die. I have only 2 that are working now, and they are on for every ride.

After owning InnovK2 for a while now, what's your opinion of the performance and video quality.
Do you have any short dull day video clips that I could see please ?

I am interested as well. I run dashcams in all my vehicles "just in case". I have been procrastinating on getting something for my motorcycle for a while. I have the Sena 10C, which works - but I want something that I don't have to think about just like my cars.

Thanks!

I've had the single cam INNOV set up for about 3-4 years now, they didn't have a two cam system at the time. It has been very reliable, gives good quality image with a good field of view. Mine is mounted under the the headlight on the left as I wanted it to be not so obvious for the light fingered persons out there.

Looking in to this the INNOV2 is being replaced by the INNOV3 with the same specs. There is also a INNOV5 that has 4K video for the front camera. I would like a GOPRO but It might be nice if it were a hidden camera. hmmm......

How do you like the camera view with the camera on the light mount? I have the k2 as well with the front camera mounted under the nose using one of the panel screws.

I got the INNOVV K3 not long ago. Install was pretty easy and direct, everything only has one option to plug into on the control unit so you can't mess it up. I would have liked to see about another foot of wire on the front camera which would have allowed me to put the control unit in the tail section, but that is a pretty minor gripe. I wired this as instructed, direct power and "key on" (I actually tied it into my switch 5 on my police switches).

Video quality is fairly decent. I think my Blackvue dash cams are better, especially at night - but you can see what is going on with these. You can't pick out license plates unless you are right on top of them though. Sound is awful - but the instructions specifically said to install the microphone facing the wind for best results. I have it tucked in next to my mirror which I think causes the under water effect you are hearing.

Video review, 1080P at 30FPS (you have to select "1080p" on the gear icon):

Overall I am pretty happy. They appear to be well built, quality units. The app actually is fairly easy to use (or maybe the Blackvue app is terrible), pulling the SD card is by far the easiest option to view/move to your PC.

Oh, as a bonus. I went riding with a couple of buddies on Saturday, one on a 2008 Goldwing, the other on a Vulcan 900. I was reading 60mph, the Vulcan 900 was reading 68mph and the Goldwing read 65mph. The video confirmed 60mph.

I'm fitting the K3 to my 99 ST1100 tomorrow, not sure where to connect the yellow wire, any thoughts?

A whole conversation about actual speed. Some riders believe what their anolog or digital speedometers tell them. Many will not believe how far off some of these are. Bieng a tractor trailer driver it was always important to know what your actual speed is. Before GPS i used to set speed at 60 mph and use second hand on watch to estimate real speed.

You can't pick out license plates unless you are right on top of them though.
I think that's a tradeoff you have to consider — having a wide field or being able video plates at a distance. Two of the specs I want in a front facing camera are 1080@60fps. It won't make up for a 120-170º lens but it should help compare to 720@30fps. I think a rear facing camera could probably get away with a lower res but it would have to be 60fps though.

Depending how far you expect to be able to rear license plates, at least the K2 will pick them up.

I forgot my Wi-Fi password for the K2 so I formatted the SDcard and now my settings screen in the app crashes. It opens cameras and files with no issues. Settings opens for approximately 1 second before crashing.
Anyone else experience this? How did you fix?
